Thick wavy hair - product advice

Blythwind · 30/12/2023 15:37

I have VERY thick long wavy hair. Due to its volume, I tend to straighten it to keep it looking tidy.

However I'd like to embrace the wavyness...

If I don't brush it when wet, it has a nice wave but looks like rat tails. If I brush it, it goes poofy and I look like Hagrid.

Any tips for products that keep the wave even if I brush it?

Glad you asked no idea but I'm constantly being told about this curly girl routine. Think that's no brushing and buy very expensive shampoo conditioner and other things

Look at products and ranges designed for black hair. No brushing - fingers or an afro comb.

Curly/wavy hair likes moisture, vast quantities of it to get curls not frizz.

Can you brush it while it's got conditioner still in, before you rinse it out? Then my routine is boots pink curl creme, 'plop' in a t-shirt, and scrunch some alberto Gianni curl jelly in. Thick, wavy but not curly hair here. I don't worry about what shampoo and conditioner I use, I still use sulphates, and I straighten when I fancy it.

Your hair is probably curly , add curly cream when wet and scrunch it then diffuse !
