What do I ask for at the hairdresser

I have light brown hair with a few greys- not many. I’d like to make them less noticeable rather than cover them up and wondered about a few highlights. I like the hair in the picture- do you think this will help make the grey less obvious and will it need much upkeep? What should I ask the hairdresser for? Have never coloured my hair before so am a complete novice.

Sadly not. My hair is dark blonde (so quite a bit lighter than that photo) and I have highlights. You can still see the greys coming through at the roots. My grey is very white, so am thinking of going white blonde to hide them further, but then will have the issue of the white grey and darker blonde roots. It’s never ending!!

You could use a semi permanent gloss (I recommend Wella Illumina) and brush in your roots every few weeks to disguise the grey.

Agree with the PP, it won’t really hide them at all.
I religiously had mine dyed for years until about a year ago when I thought ‘fuck it’ and have just let them grow out, cold turkey. It’ll be another year or so until they’ve grown out to full length (for me) but I’ve actually found the process really cathartic and I actually get more compliments on my hair than I ever did when I was colouring it.
