I'm fat and going to Cyprus this year! Help

Just that exactly. We have a family holiday booked to Cyprus and I need inspo on what to wear.
I'm a 16-18 but would class myself as dumpy as I'm short! I also carry a lot of weight around my tummy and have an overhang after my C-section last year.
What can I buy to wear to hide the flab? Bathing suits shorts etc?

When are you going? What are you doing? Staying around the pool will require different clothes from hiking in the mountains.

cindylouho1 · 29/12/2023 09:14

@GettingStuffed I will be staying round the pool. Going to local beaches and out for dinner etc. water sports and some sight seeing.
It's aiya nappa we're going to

Shorts make us look even dumpier. High leg swimsuits/ bottoms are best. Kaftans are good from throwing on when wafting about to get drinks etc. On a sun lounger no one is looking at tummy squidge. Enjoy yourself.

I like a tankini as the top tends to hang rather than cling and you can roll it up if you want sun on your tum. Pretty flipflops/ flat for wandering about and a nice bag help.

I also swear by a home Brazilian Keratin Treatment so my hair looks amazing in the heat and humidity. That helps me a lot.

If it's not until June would you consider losing a bit of weight so you have more options? Easier said than done, I know.

Rina66 · 29/12/2023 12:15

Control swimsuits are great - I like the Next ones and Asda are also good.

Sun dresses to wear over the swimsuits and sarongs or the wrap skirts.

I also wear shirts over mine, but floppy style shorts preferably with the yoga style waistband.

Big white shirt in sheer fabric.

Hip length vest tops.

Ancient Greek sandals in a metallic

Beach bag in matching metallic

Big sunglasses, ASOS is good for cheaper ones that you won't mind losing/sitting on/getting sand in.

Sun hat that rolls up

Big earrings, bangles etc.

Waterproof makeup eyeliner, mascara, lip balm and a bronzer

Cyprus in June - you will not need a jacket!

Op

this is the thing. You will be so much happier !

We always go to Cyprus in June, I am also short and dumpy and fat! I wear tummy control swimsuits, it will be fine, there are all sorts of body shapes there and nobody notices! Avoid any dresses with sleeves or heavy fabrics, its far too hot for them.

cindylouho1 · 29/12/2023 12:20

@Highlyflavouredgravy I'm going to try and loose some for the holiday. I'm making it my New Year's resolution x

Matalan are also good for beach wear

Rina66 · 29/12/2023 12:25

The ruched control swimsuits from Next come in different colours every year, white sheer shirt and a kaftan to match your swimwear. Only buy what you really love so you will be happy wearing it on your holiday.

A spray tan before you go? Always a confidence boost! And see if you can cut/reduce alcohol and snacks and drink more water in the weeks before you go.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/12/2023 12:35

You could have a browse through some sale sites eg on Next but otherwise I would wait until nearer the time as there will be a lot more beach / summer wear in the shops after Easter . Especially if you are thinking of losing weight.

Rina66 · 29/12/2023 12:45

Yes definitely wait until the holiday wear is in the shops but if you've got a good list of what you'll need in a co ordinating colour palette, you will be so organised.

T shirt dresses in your preferred length are also good, you'll wear over here with trainers and on holiday with sandals or flip flops.

Rina66 · 29/12/2023 12:47

I had all of these from Asda last year, they were great linen or cotton, pop over styles - longer in real life as that end model is 5'11"

They're good for going down to breakfast too, we had a whole breakfast dress thread on here last year!
