Velvet dress yay or nay?

Bought this in sales
I would wear with opaques and ankle boots or could dress up with heels or higher heeled boots
It’s very comfortable so not sure why I’m not sure - maybe because it’s more than I’d normally spend and am not sure how often I’ll wear it
Was planning on NYE and a January birthday dinner plus a couples dinner in Feb (different people)
I’m 59, 5’4” and currently a size 18 although hoping to be thinner in 2024

I like it and it's a yay from me. Opaques and nice boots would look good too.

I love a velvet dress, I think they are very glamorous. Perfect colours for this time of year too!

Its probably one of those dresses that look nicer on the body than hung up. I love velvet but I know some don't.
It's a sensible, practical dress. I would wear a burgundy lipstick and sparkly earrings with it.

I think you could wear it with thick tights, boots, chunky cardigan or a coat and wear it casually. You can obviously dress it up for a party, but you can wear it day to day in the cold months.

Yes definitely. It's a lovely colour and I love velvet in winter.

Nice dress but maybe think of different tights for example fine fishnets

I think it's awful and the hem is very badly put. Perhaps it's nicer on? It looks dated and cheap to me. Sorry op

It's absolutely lovely and Sahara is one of my favourite brands.

I would chose coloured tights from Better Tights.
