Boots style - tight or looser fit around the ankle?

MyBoiledEggIsTooSoft · 27/12/2023 08:58

I am hoping to buy a pair of knee high black boots, but am uncertain about if they should be tight around the ankle or not… I would think no (as in the bottom picture) but my (stylish) teenage daughter thinks yes, they should look more like the top picture.

any thoughts (or other boots ideas) would be very welcome.

Anyone?

I prefer the hobbs ones .

urbanbuddha · 27/12/2023 13:29

I prefer the Hobbs ones. The design seems more fluid imo. The LK Bennett ones look much more uncomfortable with the wide ankle and the higher heel and therefore more difficult to walk gracefully - for me anyway. I don’t really like the teeny buckle or the brown heel either.

urbanbuddha · 27/12/2023 13:32

Just looked again. It’s a hole not a buckle. I like that even less.

MyBoiledEggIsTooSoft · 27/12/2023 13:54

Thank you both. My daughter also prefer these. I am just a bit uncomfortable with the snug fit around the leg - I don’t know why I think that is strange and want to “cover more”.

maybe I am just old and should get with the times 😁

I think the LK Bennett ones look more modern actually, although I prefer the Hobbs ones.

When they’re loose around the ankles, they look like wellies to my eyes and don’t look good with longer skirts. Tighter around the ankle are more wearable with a variety of things.

amberisola · 27/12/2023 14:11

I agree with your daughter, a fitted style is more current, and the Hobbs boots look nicer and more comfortable. But it all depends on how you want to wear them.

KirstenBlest · 27/12/2023 14:13

I don't like the L K Bennett ones at all.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 27/12/2023 14:22

I agree with your daughter. The other pair are unflattering in every way.

In the first boot the ankle curve looks elegant

The second boot looks uncomfortable and a bit oddly shaped

Char65 · 27/12/2023 16:39

Yes I agree with your stylish daughter, the Hobbs boots are better. They are a cleaner, classic line and it is better to be tighter around the ankle. It is always an issue with boots as can be ill fitting at the ankle and/or top and to get a good pair with a good fit can be quite difficult. They definitely look better if more of a "snug fit" or, as another post said, they can just look like wellies!😄

PS - I'm 58 and always listen to my daughters about fashion/clothes/style one's 30 and the other is 26.😁

Thank you all, it looked looks like I will follow my daughter (and you all) in this (although do also love the dune ones posted by @urbanbuddha )
