I wouldn't wear short boots- too casual?

@BCBird that's what I thought but the bride and groom are fairly non traditional so don't think it would stick out too much. Having said that I would rather find something else, not sandals because its going to piss it down and there is more than one venue.

Maybe not Chelsea boots, but heeled ankle boots, low, kitten or high. There are several on M&S website.

The high heeled strappy sandals they've paired it with are one of my least favourite styles of footwear and tbh in a choice between them and Chelsea boots I'd pick Chelsea boots.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 26/12/2023 19:57

I would wear something like this. These are ridiculously expensive but there are loads of cheaper copies.

I think they're much nicer and more interesting than strappy sandals.

Russell and Bromley gold ankle boots

Pointed Low Feature Heel Boot

Each to their own but Esska make some horrible shoes.

Although if you like that style they would go with the dress and they're closed toe.

Thanks all, some good suggestions here! I'm with you @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle on the strappy sandals, not for me at all. Love those R&B boots but yes slightly beyond my means. Will see if I can find similar

Erm not with tights. Also what’s depicted by the retailer looks awful, long sleeves with no tights and sparkly shoes

brawnthesheep · 26/12/2023 20:53

Could you wear some chunky platforms with tights? I think it's the wrong length for boots and definitely not flat ones

Moveoverdarlin · 26/12/2023 20:53

I would wear black suede or velvet stilettos with that dress. Boots would look very casual and dumpy.

brawnthesheep · 26/12/2023 20:56

What about Mary janes?

In your opinion. I think stillettos look very dated now- just my opinion.

Obviously stillettos will never go away but for a wedding in winter I think low or mid heeled ankle boots would look much better.

Consideringachange2023 · 26/12/2023 21:22

I would either go a nice heeled pump / court or a pointy, maybe sock style, ankle boot. Velvet, embellished, metallic as suggested upthread.

I wouldn’t go Chelsea boot no, far too dumpy for that length of dress. I know a lot of women like to wear these styles with DM type boots and if that’s your vibe then it can look really good, but if it’s not a determined look then stay away from the clumpy boots and go for something classic like a heeled boot with a trendy twist (like a pointed toe, kitten toe, sock style or ruched)

WhitestShadeofPale · 26/12/2023 22:00

Knee length black sock boots with as high and fine a heel as you’re comfortable wearing.

berryhand · 26/12/2023 22:25

I knew S&B wouldn't let me down..thanks everyone. I can't really do high heels so going to go for the low/kitten heel gold boot look. Now to source some that will a.) Arrive in time and b.) Be kind to my bruised post-Xmas bank account (thanks for the links @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle)

Yup. With tights

Defiantlynot41 · 27/12/2023 08:00

JL, La Redoute and M&S (although the M&S ones don't look gold to me, you might need to see them in real life)

Sorry, app won't let me load photos ...
