Hi everyone,

I have 2b/2c wavy hair with some random 3c sections thrown in. I had loose curls as a child which I seemed to grow out of and as a teen was always straightening my hair which I always moaned about because it was really kinky realise now it will have been the natural waves. I cut my hair really short for many years but it’s now shoulder length. Since becoming a mum I rarely straighten my hair and it is wild! When it’s just washed it’s lovely but when I try mousse or I once tried the diffuser I’d have described it as witch hair! I wear my hair every single day in a bun and I’d really like to see what others use to see if I can get a handle on it. I’ve tried a few different brands of mousse and a serum I think it was but with no luck. Seeing all these ads for only curls and merwaves and wondering if they are worth the money.

Water, lots and lots of water, and a gel - I use either Cantu custard or Umberto Giannini gel in the pink tube. That's it. They key for me is loads of water and apply product when it's soaking wet.

I use cantu range as it's always on 3 for 2 somewhere!

K18 is also great if you can afford to splash out. My last bottle lasted me 15 months as I wash my hair twice a week but only use it once

I use the cantu range but any silicone and sulfate free range will do. What makes the most difference to me is the squishing and scrunching action as demonstrated on the only curls website. I think it's the action more than the product.
I use a gel when my hair is freshly washed, then each morning when I wake up with crazy hair I wet it and add curl cream to the ends, again using the squishing upwards technique. I only shampoo twice a week.

I'd suggest making your own flaxseed gel. Very cheap and easy.
Boil seeds with water then strain through metal sieve or tights when it becomes thick. Takes about 7 minutes. Store in fridge and add rosemary oil or lavender oil if you want longer shelf life. This works best for my 2b waves.

I use cantu shea butter co-wash and sometimes a little cantu avocado curl activator. Also: silk pillowcases.

It also takes a bit of time for your hair to adjust and a fair bit of acceptance that it won’t look the same from day to day. Some days will be amazing but some won’t 🤷‍♀️

Aint that the truth!! My hair can look stunning and I think I've nailed it - the next day it looks awful and I'm wondering what I did wrong. Acceptance really is the key.

@ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming I know right. Yesterday I got up and looked like Wiesel Gummidge. Yet to get out of bed so who knows what today will bring…
