Eyelure eye lash dye/tint .... what's happened to it?

Laiste · 18/12/2023 12:05

I used to tint my own brows and lashes regularly with Eyelure (either the brow kit or the lash kit - i used to either/or on both), but sort of stopped for a couple of years.

Want to do it again now and it seems you no longer mix the product before putting it on your lashes - you have to faff about with putting activator on your lashes, wiping it all off (?? i mean ... ?) and then putting on the dye Confused

Reviews are awful! And i'm not surprised!

What's happened?

Does anyone here ignore the advice and just mix it and put it on in one go?

I see the brow tint is as it always was - so .... why has the lash stuff gone odd?

Shall i just use the brow one on my lashes? like i used to half the time

TIA

Gave up on eyelure years ago when it first changed, now use Julienne from Amazon after it was recommended on here.

Laiste · 18/12/2023 12:25

It changed ages ago then!? The kit i was using last must have been ancient 😂

Thanks for the recommendation.

Often wondered if this is easy to do yourself..

Laiste · 18/12/2023 12:32

It's ok to do yourself. Sometimes you get a bit in your eye and it stings, but - you just gently wipe it with a cotton bud and get it out and it's all good.

The 'proper' way is one eye at a time. But i confess i used to be impatient and do both at once!

There are youtube vids on how to do it.
I used to get really good results with Eyelure, but the reviews are not good now ... but if you're not actually mixing the activator with the colour then i don't see how it could work! Like home hair dye kits.

I've been using Eyelure that I ordered from Amazon recently, it still needs you to mix the dye with the activator, but the tube designs are different.

Squirrelsnut · 18/12/2023 13:02

Use the Swiss o Par one, it's very good.

Laiste · 18/12/2023 13:09

@soontobeamama oh really! Could you add a link please? :)

Thanks for the various recommendations of other brands. Are these 'mixy' ones i wonder?

No worries - it just arrived last week as I needed a quick fix before Christmas nights out, so it should be the same batch, it's on offer still -

Eylure DYBROW Eyebrow Dye Kit, Dark Brown amzn.eu/d/ePf5aH9

This is the one I ordered, but there are other colours here too.

soontobeamama · 18/12/2023 14:47

It's just the brow one I use, I've never tried the eyelash one. I don't know if the brow one would be safe for eyelashes 🙈

CopperLion · 19/12/2023 05:34

The change happened years ago and I had to start going to the salon again. I think it was due to a change in regulations (possibly even Brexit??) that meant they can no longer sell the old formula here. Very annoying and I have never found a home tint kit that works the same since then.

marshmallowfinder · 19/12/2023 05:42

I just use Dyebrow from Asda. It's very good. Not on lashes though, only brows.

Oblomov23 · 19/12/2023 06:00

I used to use it and didn't know it had changed.

I believe in the salons they use the same mix for both eyes and eyebrows

Theraffarian · 19/12/2023 06:13

I stopped using it years back when they changed the formula. Ones like Julienne I’ve never tried as you have to buy the peroxide separately to use them . I do miss it though .

rainbowbee · 19/12/2023 06:51

Eyelure just doesn't work since they changed it, don't bother with it. I've begun going to the salon for lash tints and use just for men beard dye for brows.

JustOneMoreBaileys · 19/12/2023 07:06

Eyelure is rubbish since they changed it. (The eyebrow version is the same as ever.)

I use the salon system where you buy the tint and developer separately and mix them. It's a bit pricier upfront but lasts forever so am pretty sure it's not more expensive long term.

WellWillWoll · 19/12/2023 07:12

@JustOneMoreBaileys

Where do you buy this from please? I love lash tints - would be much easier if i could do at home!

FredaFox · 19/12/2023 07:23

I'm currently sat with the brow stuff on now, you can't use it on lashes
I did use swartzkopf brow recently and that was good, but darker than the brown eyelure but ok
During lockdown I used one called Jolene I think from eBay, did try that on my lashes as it said bit but it made my eyes run (which i do get sometines) so gave up so interested in lash dyes

Just Amazon.

You buy the tint, the developer and I also bought a little glass pot and spoodle (?) brush - a mascara type one with a long handle.

It takes less than 10 mins.

Hi. Just found this thread. I’m at a loss what to do with my brows. Used to like the original dark brown brow dye that you mixed. Realised my last purchase was lash not brow so can’t use that really and instructions are complicated. What’s a good alternative any recommendations???

DeftHare · 26/08/2025 08:45

Don't know if this is any help but for my brows I use just for men.... have done for years, not on my lashes just on my brows. Its much cheaper than others!

Lifestooshort71 · 26/08/2025 09:06

I've used the eyelure brow one on my lashes ever since they changed the lash one. Never had a problem - mix the 2 thingies in the plastic tray then poke it on with the wrong end of the applicator, then finish off/smooth over with the right end. Try not to blink.
ETA - this works for me but may not for everyone!

The link or the product?

I still regularly use the brow tint by Eyelure and it works perfectly. I’ve never tried the eyelash tint.
