Comfy Christmas Day Outfit

Sunshineandbluesky · 15/12/2023 20:51

I’ve been quite ill and Christmas this year is all about making life easier for me. For example Christmas dinner will be courtesy of M&S.
I have a yearning to wear comfy tracksuit bottoms on Christmas Day but I don’t want to look or feel scruffy. I can’t wear a big sweatshirt or jumper due to getting very hot very easily.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want to wear my pyjamas and I don’t want anything “novelty”. I’m a size 14.
It would be great if I had some suggestions as to how I could be comfortable but also feel good about myself.

How about a jersey dress?

Sunshineandbluesky · 15/12/2023 21:30

Thanks for replying @cantbecaught . I should have said no tights either sorry. The only way I feel comfortable at the minute is in tracksuit bottoms. Even leggings are too constricting.

Would you be able to wear a sequin pair? I did last year. Very comfortable.

chesterelly1 · 15/12/2023 21:43

If the food is courtesy of M&S then start your outfit search there too. The Rosie loungewear looks comfy, there's a pure cotton set that shouldn't be too toasty. Or if you want the comfort of joggy bottoms but want to feel smarter have a look at the cashmere ones. You could get a co ordinating cardi and wear a cotton top underneath in case you get too warm.

Sunshineandbluesky · 15/12/2023 21:44

Oo that’s a possibility. Where did you get them from please@gocompare ? It seems a bit wasteful but cheery too. I guess they could come out every year at Christmas!

I think mine were from monsoon. I sold them on vintned just after Christmas because I lost a bit of weight. I will look for some now for you.

gocompare · 15/12/2023 22:06

Loads on there!

I hope you find a nice pair.

Thanks @gocompare. You’ve made me think that velvet tracksuit bottoms would be nice so I’ll look for those too.
@chesterelly1 I think the idea of a matching cardigan sounds good. Cashmere just makes me hot just thinking about it 😁 but I’m off to look at the site now. Thank you.

Calling them joggers now rather than tracksuit bottoms seems to have helped my search a lot too! 🤣

www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/p/ll910 would this work with the matching top?

gocompare · 15/12/2023 22:16

Haha yes joggers Grin they sound much more dressy than trackie bottoms which is what I usually say. Sequin ones though are deffo joggers.

I found that out last year searching for them 🤣

Simple jersey dress or black jersey trousers with an elastics waist and a short sleeved top if you get hot.
I'm wearing black trousers, plain black long sleeve top and burnout kimono style jacket. Easy, comfortable, and forgiving!

JaceLancs · 15/12/2023 22:35

Black velvet lounging suit or just the bottoms with a sparkly but stretchy top

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 15/12/2023 22:43

I wear the M&S plain black (or navy) straight leg joggers a lot. I've convinced myself they just look like black trousers (don't really care if they don't). I wear with a loose shirt or jersey top and long cardigan for throwing off when I get too hot. Lands End is good for nice jersey tops, but not sure if you'd get one delivered in time.

Sunshineandbluesky · 15/12/2023 22:48

@JaceLancs I’ve just ordered that jumpsuit to try - thank you! What a great price!
I’m going to order a pair of sparkly and a pair of velvet joggers too. Now for the hunt for a top that matches.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

John Lewis do matching velvet bottoms & jumpers (more loungewear but you can get away with wearing them out the house too)
