Uniqlo ultra light down jackets - how warm are they?

Does anyone know how warm these are? Would they be enough with thermal layer and sweater under, in zero - 5 ? Can’t work out if this wouldn’t be up to the job as some reviews say very warm, some say good for autum. Anyone who has one of these what is the lowest temps they could handle? I don’t mind there not being a hood. Thanks

I have one of those. I wear it in the winter and am fine, have had mine since I think 2019. Depending on the weather, I'm typically in a long-sleeve top or a jumper underneath. Once this year, I've worn a Uniqlo heattech long sleeve and a jumper.

I don't know about actual measurable temperatures. It's fine for 0 or low minus for me. I'm also quite a warm person, so if you easily get cold it might be different for you. Mine would also fit a thinner fleece (you know, the type that you wear like a jumper, rather than over a jumper) beneath it.

I have a very old one but it looks thinner than the current ones. I wear mine under other coats on v cold days. It wouldn't keep me warm enough in sub 0 temps. Do you know what the fill is on the one you are considering?

I wear mine under bigger coats when it is really cold. I don't think it would be warm enough in winter on it's on. Perhaps spring/autumn.

This is really helpful thanks. 3WildOnes I’ve just checked and it’s says fill power of 750*
I have no idea what that means. Is that good ?

I think 750 is fairly good. If you aren't a cold person then it might be warm enough with a thermal and jumper.

Charlieradioalphapapa · 12/12/2023 20:26

I’ve just googled fill power. Looks like 750 should be pretty warm.

I think you’re right 3WildOnes. Hopefully I can get away with this with a good waterproof hooded jacket over it, if needed as long as I have enough suitable layers to add and take off. I don’t want to have to travel with my long puffer coat which is warm but really bulky to cart around.
