Other stuff going on at home with teenagers etc, so really this is the cherry on the cake.

My hair is really fine and takes ages t grow. I had a pixie in February and only now was nearly getting my fring to tuck behi d my ears.

Told hairdesser I want back really inverting ans layers to start being cut in from behind my ears, and lose the pointed wispy bits at bottom of my fair at front (abour 1cmoff) as my hair is fine they look scrappy.

So i still have the chuffing wispy bits but my fringe tbat I nearly could tuck begind my ears has been cut short like a fringe and I've got stupid really short layers all over my hair. It looks really boxy and yet flat all over and no style whatso ever.i'm gutted as I dont fet dressed up or wear makw uo I jyst wanted an inverted short bob and now I've got ghus stupid boxy non style that looks like I've cut it myself, and its put vack 9 monytjs of gtowth.

No point goung back as he cant put things right, will just go to another hairdesser in future and leave it as long as posible brgore anotber cut.

I'm having a fcking shit time at moment and this was tje one thing I was looking firward to and i look even worse than normal. I dint want ti get more shape etc cut as I'll just lose more length.

I kniw its a stupid thing to be narked about but I am so upset.

Cheer me up please!

It will grow!
We have all been there.
I have anyway.

It might look ok in a week it two, sometimes the hair goes into shock after cutting it seems and then settles.

Are you a hat person?
Its hat season.

Finally, hugs.
Last effing thing you need by the sound of it.

Therealweld · 10/12/2023 19:07

Not the hugs, we need those.
The effing dissapointing cut obvs.

Withsleighbellson · 10/12/2023 19:08

Oh no that's so shit. Tell you what. My last cut ended up looking like a man from Tudor times. There was a tik took where a guy sang berries and cream and my family kept singing that to me and laughing. They said could I dance like the guy and pretend to be him so I did and they fell about in tears. Sometimes you have to laugh at the situation (if you can).

What's the difference between a bad and a good haircut?
About 2 weeks.

It'll grow and I'm sure its not as bad as you think.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 10/12/2023 19:11

I had a disastrous perm once, OP, when the hairdresser got tipped off about a traffic warden in the area and disappeared to move her car Hmm I kept asking if it needed to be rinsed, and eventually a junior came over, pulled a curl out and went "shit!". I looked like a poodle crossed with deirdre barlow for about 6 weeks until I went to another hairdresser and they gave it a crop. It was horribly awkward as a friend worked there and I kept having to say "oh yes, it's lovely" while dying inside. I'd only had the bloody thing done on massive rollers to get some volume...

LadyHag · 10/12/2023 19:15

Ha these are cheering me up.

Thanks for hugs. I look like an angry square headed man right now.

Ffs i just want an inverted bob i can tuck behind my eara. At least i will save in haircuts for a while.

Tudor times and perms are makung ne laugh.

At least I didnt tip the bastard

Aww it's not stupid at all. A bad haircut can make you feel awful. Have you tried taking Kelp tablets from Holland and Barrett? This will help with hair growth and make it stronger. You should find that you hair grows more quickly.
Definitely avoid getting anymore taken off if it's too short for you now. Try different ways to style it whilst it grows. Big hugs, don't let it get you down.

LadyHag · 13/12/2023 06:33

I will look into kelp, thankyou!

Could you pin the fringe up into a quiff? Would that help the blockish side of thing?

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 13/12/2023 06:51

Sorry op not to laugh but l am imagining Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber from your description!!
Hate having a bad haircut hope it grows soon x

CinnamonJellyBeans · 13/12/2023 07:33

I took a picture of Fiona Fullerton to the hairdresser and came out looking like Edwina Currie.

@Withsleighbellson Thanks for making me laugh!

MumOfOneAwesomeHuman · 13/12/2023 08:25

Feel for you. I think some hairdressers seem to get pleasure out of ignoring instructions!

My mum has thin hair and it was falling out too due to medicine side affect. In Dads advice she bought some rosemary oil cheaply on Amazon, rubs it into her scalp nightly and adds a bit to her shampoo in the morning and the growth is insane! She's 82 and bald patches have grown back on her hairline plus the rest of her hair is thicker.

Maybe getting some and going for it daily will get you closer to that dream style and thicken it up overall. Has to be worth a go.

But for now hats and hugs is all I've got.

Deathraystare · 14/12/2023 15:23

@MumOfOneAwesomeHuman
I am also using rosemary oil mixed with shampoo but not sure what effect it has though my scalp is normally less itchy now. Although my hair is not thin, I shed like a husky so was beginning to worry a bit.

@LadyHag
Of course you are upset by your haircut. That was the final blow. If it had come out as you wanted you could have thought Huh! at least my hair cut is good!

My worst hair moment was entirely my fault. I could never make up my mind so brought in a photo of that year's Miss World, (very very ironic as I thought on it as a cattle market!!!) an Australian with a page boy cut. It didn't even look good on her! Anyway, on chubby me it made me look moon faced. It was nice and shiny though!!

Sonolanona · 14/12/2023 19:14

You have my sympathy and solidarity OP!
I stupidly went from long hair to a pixie cut at the end of August... and they cut it WAYYYY too short. I'm not particularly vain but I was beyond gutted.
Finally went for a trim last week just to tidy up the emerging mullet...and she cut it too short again..and it's a pudding bowl :(

I'm taking biotin to try and speed it up and I'm wearing a hat and never having short hair ever again!

It will grow :)

woopdedoodle · 14/12/2023 19:24

Have definitely been that "square head", in my case it was a week before the holiday of a life time, and my daughter's wedding.

In all the photos I look like I've had a fight with a pudding bowl, and I can still hear the hairdressers words, "I think we can go a little shorter"

It will grow back, it will be all right.

Pokinganose · 14/12/2023 19:27

I had a terrible haircut once whilst loads of training staff were standing around watching and complained at the time. A more senior stylist redid it but she was scissor happy and it wasn't any better. Ironically it was called RUSH and I will return there.
A male friend of mine who books a haircut rather than going to a barbers recently was annoyed that they didn't cut it as he asked that he paid them half the amount which I thought was pretty brave.
Be glad its hat season and that in a couple of weeks it will have grown a bit. At least its not permanent like a bad tattoo for example.

neilyoungismyhero · 14/12/2023 19:27

Biotin is also awesome, for hair and nails.

TwinklingLightsEverywhere · 14/12/2023 20:50

Ah, this is crap. Why don't they listen? I'm in a similar boat with the fringe, thought I'd try it and it looked terrible so been growing it out for about a year, only just got to the point where it can go behind my ears and asked her to take off the teeniest bit and I've got a bloody fringe again. She also dried it 'with volume' which made it look even shorter so I had to wash it as soon as I came home - well aware that it's the blow dry that costs the money.

I'm really struggling. I generally love my hairdresser, I have difficult hair and she spends forever cutting into it so it lies right. But she's been promoted so her prices have shot up. DH doesn't get this, it is hard to understand really. So I've tried another couple of stylists and they're not that much cheaper and not as good. Life was easier when I has mega long hair.

ThereSnowLimit · 14/12/2023 21:42

I remember after I had my youngest child I was overweight, knackered, pale and puffy and desperately needed something to perk me up.

I know, I’ll get my hair done, I said. I’ll get a few layers cut in to my long, dark hair so I look less like Morticia.

I came out looking like Suzy Quatro.

We’ve all been there, OP. Chin up.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 16/12/2023 12:16

Maybe try out some texturising products for the hair and think about changing your earrings, make up, so using the new cut as a way to experiment with new looks.

ChateauDuMont · 16/12/2023 12:20

If it's short, but a wig.

Yes, I was thinking maybe you could have a wig for Christmas, OP. Or several, so you can try out different styles. Make it a fun thing.

But yep, been there. Several times, in fact. Now I grow my hair loooong & cut the fringe myself.

LadyHag · 23/12/2023 00:09

Hi everyone

The replies have made me laugh!

I got a cancellation at a local little one woman salon, nothing trendy, ended up getting it cut short to balanve tje stupid short layers.... dead chuffed , it looks like a ginnifer goodwin style crop and I love it, much much hapier, no longer have a face loke a slapped arse.

😂
