I am asking my DH to get me a pair of pearl earrings for Christmas but can't decide which ones to go for? Please help me decide :)

LUXE Pearl Hoop Earrings

Due to the authentic nature of the freshwater pearls, these may vary in shape and size compared to the images. You can't get a more gorgeous & timeless piece than these LUXE Pearl Hoop Earrings Featuring a recycled sterling silver based gold hoop e...

Do NOT get the Mejuri ones!!!!!!!

I bought this same pair, loved and wore them every day for a year, and then over the summer the metal turned black.

And I discovered that there are many posters on Reddit reporting similar tarnishing/blackening with their Mejuri metals.

I advise investing in solid gold to avoid that situation.

OhpoorMe · 11/12/2023 07:57

2 look dates, 1 look cheap, so I'd go with 3!

Mongrelsrbeautiful · 11/12/2023 09:53

I like no2 in silver. If you want the gold, no1 looks more modern. I'm sure you'll look fab in any if thats your thing though.

Number 2 look very dated, definitely not them.

don’t like 2

tillytoodles1 · 11/12/2023 15:45

No 2.

Bigcat25 · 11/12/2023 16:44

I like options two, but I have a personal bias against the irregular shape of freshwater pearls, so that rules out number 3 for me.

KnickerlessParsons · 11/12/2023 17:01
  1. More modern than the other two.
Howmanyroses · 11/12/2023 17:59

I haven't actually made any decisions after reading this thread! You lot are making it very difficult to decide on a pair 😂I can't stand it when jewellery tarnishes, so I think that rules our Mejuri (unless it's solid gold, which is not affordable). I quite like the shape of the Muru pair - I've seen this shape across the high street, I think the irregular shape is a lot more 'in' right now compared with the perfectly rounded pearl, which is more classic. I am interested to hear from those who like choice 1 why they think this is a more current look?

I would advise against buying pearls online as you really need to see them in the flesh to make sure that they match -I have a pair I bought online and they are fractionally different sizes and it annoys me everytime I wear them (so I don't wear them often). If you have a John Lewis near you might be worth looking at the pair a PP mentioned?

DisforDarkChocolate · 11/12/2023 19:27

The second one, I like the shape of the pearl.

Viviennemary · 11/12/2023 20:13

They're all nice. But I think two and 3 over 1. Three is the nicest
I think because of the unusual shape of the pearl If you like that.

Bichette · 11/12/2023 20:26

Second ones.
I have some similar from Monica Vinader.

Blinkityblonk · 11/12/2023 21:14

I prefer 1, proportions look better to me. I would like these myself!

Butteredtoast55 · 11/12/2023 21:37

2

malificent7 · 12/12/2023 06:53

I don't think 2 look dated.

bananamangoes · 12/12/2023 09:49

Not Orelia as it's not good quality

2chocolateoranges · 12/12/2023 09:55

For me it depends on how often you want to wear them. I do prefer number 2 however I’d have

1 for everyday wear
2 for occasional wear eg nights out , celebrations etc as they are more elegant.

Wannabeskinnyminny · 12/12/2023 12:59

Number 2, the gold hoop is really nice, more substantial looking than number 3.

smooshraspberry · 12/12/2023 14:19

I would consider these as they're gold, as opposed to just gold plated. I have a pair and they're lovely.

Hydrahelix · 12/12/2023 15:32

2, the Muru ones. The others could be plastic, they're so white and spherical.

testedorgan · 12/12/2023 17:36

I have had Orelia jewellery in the past, and the quality is not good IMO. Gold plate rubbed off quickly.

FrancineBox · 12/12/2023 18:45

I vote for 1
3 is nice but long metal bit ends up hurting and digging into the back of my ears if I ever lean or rest my face on one side.
