Talk me out of Birkenstock shearling clogs

I've been looking for something to wear at home in the winter which isn't really a slipper. I just can't get on with slippers - in my head they're all about snuggling up and being all cosy, and I work from home and I don't want to be cosy when I'm working. I've had some near-Uggs (TK Maxx) which are good when its really really cold, but the synthetic fur is a bit sweaty otherwise and they're disintegrating inside after a year. I love Birkenstocks and wear them a lot in the summer, but the price is somewhat scary. Help!!

I have my eye on these! Expensive but not AS expensive as the shearling clogs - https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/zermatt-shearling-wool-felt/zermatt-cozyhomeshearling-woolfelt-0-latex-u_1969.html

These look a good dupe for the actual shearling clogs though. La Redoute quite often have discounts too - https://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350325927.aspx?

Ive had the Ugg scuffette slippers for three years now and they have been great. I wear them all year round 😂 the fur has completed come off the bottom though and it’s just leather now!!

They will last you a lifetime. I love mine. Wear them all year round. I have had them for years, and they are still perfect. DH wears fake ones, and has replaced them repeatedly.
Go for it.

Everley · 09/12/2023 19:49

Yeah I can’t talk you out of it either, I’d love a pair!

Shinyandnew1 · 09/12/2023 19:52

Does anyone know what the sizing is like on the shearling Birkenstock clogs? I wear a 37 in normal Birkenstock sandals, a 38 in non-lined Birkenstock clogs but wondered how the fleece inner part affected the sizing? I’d like to try some on somewhere!

Payakan · 09/12/2023 20:07

I never bought Birkenstock sandals, only clogs in a couple different models, and I wear a 38 in shoes and a 38 in them. I find them true to size.

BuntyCollocks · 09/12/2023 20:18

If you’re near Cheshire oaks I got my Boston clogs for £96

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/12/2023 20:36

I love mine. DP got me them last Christmas and I wear them every day. I wear the same size (37) as in my Boston leather clogs and suede clogs - they felt neat at first because of the fur but only for a few days.

Finful · 09/12/2023 23:33

Get them! They look very classy

Mirrormeback · 09/12/2023 23:43

I get hot feet so I prefer my Birkenstock Arizonas which I wear as slippers

Faceplantagain · 10/12/2023 10:29

Hmm. Maybe I'll wait and see if they turn up in any of the sales...

I couldn’t decide if I would actually wear them, so got some Brakeburn ones from John Lewis to try first. Probably will invest in the real thing at some point but these were a good choice for now and a fraction of the price.

I have the non shearling version. They are amazing, so comfortable. I have to size down a size for all birkenstops.

Rassy · 10/12/2023 15:03

Does anyone wear socks with the Shearling Bostons or only with non-shearling ones?

Petrine · 10/12/2023 16:41

I have the Boston shearling lined ones. They come up smaller - probably because of the sheepskin lining. I usually take 36 in Birkenstock sandals but went up a size for my clogs.

If I got Boston clogs again I’d get the unlined ones and then wear socks or not according to the weather.

Are you unimpressed with the lined ones, @Petrine ?

Handsnotwands · 10/12/2023 17:31

I’ve got lined and unlined and prefer the unlined. Possibly as the unlined ones have a soft footbed but the shearling ones don’t. They’re just not very snuggly tbh

Gnomegnomegnome · 10/12/2023 17:32

Do it! They are really comfortable and last forever.

MustIthough · 10/12/2023 17:34

I found the shearlings definitely sized smaller but after a bit of wear were perfect.
loved mine but for the price disintegrated too quickly. Gorgeous while ‘new’ looking. Tatty after 8 months, binned by 12 months..

Rassy · 10/12/2023 17:36

I have had the Shearlings for a year and are still looking good. Tend to wear them in the house and for popping out!

LadyLapsang · 10/12/2023 18:22

I bought a pair of shearling Birkenstocks pre-lockdown in T K Maxx for about £10. I got them home and thought I would never wear them. I’m not a slipper person and was working in the office five days pw. Then Covid came and out came the shearling Birkenstocks and the cashmere bed socks (or even two pairs at once) - so cozy.

capelmustard · 10/12/2023 20:01

I've had my fur lined Bostons for 3 years, I have worn them every single day and they are as comfortable, and look as good as the day I got them. I have since bought them for DH and all of my dc, and we all live in them.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 10/12/2023 20:04

I'm going to talk you into buying them as I really want some too.
