What can i wear to a musical soriee

Our primary school is holding a musical soriee(sp) and have asked for parents to dress up for the evening. Now before the arrival of my children 3 yrs ago, i had loads of evening wear but got rid of it all as never went out.
Do you think a liitle black dress would be okay, have seen one in Debenhams by John Rocha. I am a size 12/14 with big norks 34G, i have evening shoes in gold, black and silver and handbags but no dress. Please could someone help me find something.

PS I don't have a big budget ie not over £100 if poss
