I’m 40 and I have no skincare regime. I went away with some friends and they all have nice products and I think I need to treat myself or put some on my Christmas list.

I have normal skin, not sensitive. It does go a bit dry but I literally never moisturise so…

I have a tiny patch of redness on my cheek which was really aggravated by a skin and me prescription which also gave me weird dark freckles so I’m not looking for that again.

I’d like some good quality basic skincare, I have no routine so nothing too extravagant because if it’s too complicated I won’t use it. Just something that feels nice to use and makes me feel a bit pampered.

All advice welcome 🙏

A cleanser first. Liz Earle. Cleanse & Polish that you take off with the muslin cloth included rinsed in hot water. If buying for yourself the Aldi version ( copy) is just as good & cheaper.
Then a moisturiser, one for day with SPF is good. Any of the mid ranges are fine, Boots No7, L’Oréal, Olay, supermarkets often have offers on them.
Then a night cream with no spf of course. That’s really all the basics you need.

Cerave is good, but basic. I use their cream-to-foam cleanser followed by the moisturising lotion. That's it! I spent years messing around with fancier stuff, but my skin looks just as bad/good on this 'regimen'
I use SPF in the morning if I'm going to be out (usually wfh)
