Best non-damaging hair straighteners?

Planning for Christmas gift, DD15 reckons either GHD platinum or Steam Pod are best, preferring the broader "irons" (no idea what those bits are called!) Her main concern is avoiding or minimising damage to her hair. She has long, fairly fine hair which tends to be wavy, though she coaxes it into curls on occasion. Budget is around 200 pounds ish. I have a pair of 40 quid Babyliss which do me fine on the odd occasion, but she has higher standards than her old mum!

I have the Steampod and have been using it for years. I love it. My hairdresser has commented there's less damage than when I was using my old GHDs.

Thanks @Mercurial123 - some people find it a bit of a faff, apparently but that's a clear vote!
