What's the best home hair dye?

I get my roots done every 6 or 7 weeks (thank you greys) and ombre/dip dye refreshed once a year. What are the best home hair dyes that won't ruin my hair? I could do without spending to get my roots done every month or so, but equally want to keep my hair healthy and keep it so that it will lift easy when i get it highlighted. Any tried and tested recommendations please?

I like knight and Wilson . Can usually get it in Superdrug or Amazon for a reasonable price. I like that it doesn’t have the dreaded orange glow!

I buy Wella or L'Oréal professional dye and developer online and use it at home. Ask your hairdresser what shade they are using - dead simple to do just need to weigh it out.

If you want healthy hair that won’t spoil your hairdresser’s root lifts you should stick with using toners only, nothing that lifts colour.
