Top of foot shoe rub

I've asked this before I think but asking again in case I get a lucky response!!

I often find shoes rub on the top of my foot, only the right one, sometimes 2/3 of the way from my ankle, sometimes on the bone near where the big toe becomes the foot.

Shoes can feel great; really comfortable for best part of a day, even several days. So I'm fooled into thinking it's fine.

Had some biker boots that were fine for a few days and then they started to rub, so much so that foot became a bit swollen and they wouldn't do up. Trainers the other day; started off fine and then by the end of the evening developed a pea sized lump by the big toe foot joint.

I got some adidas gazelles that are no problem; I never know why some are bad and some great.

Anyone else have this and got to the bottom of the issue?

The toe box is not deep enough for you. If the shoes are leather you can get them stretched by a cobbler or alternatively damping them with a sponge and stuffing them with socks (packed tightly) until dry. Heating them up a bit with a hairdryer can help too.

I once used the stuffing method with the addition of some strategically place marbles where the rubbed a toe joint. Worked really well and have worn the shoes load since with no problems. 😉
