Been invited to a posh daytime event that has stipulated this on the invite.
I do not have one of these
I also am sure I do not have to stick the those requirements but it gives an idea.

I have a decent budget
Im a size 10, long limbs, bloated belly that I hate, no waist, modest boobs.
Do not like flowery, lacy Monsoon, Ted Baker or Next type outfits.
Prefer Zara styling.

Please help me out! On line and speedy delivery would help.
i need shoes too! Can’t do mega heels and have a bunion.

thank you

Thank you- I feel like I should like that dress more than I do? Not sure about the colour maybe. It’s definitely a bit more unusual and has a tummy covering area which is good.

Would that be more evening than cocktail? Is there a difference?

I didn't think much of it but saw someone wearing one at an event recently and it looked great. There are a few variations of colour and neckline.

What did the invitation actually say? I would think of cocktail dresses as being short and sparkly and for evenings. Daytime dressy events - more wedding/races like.

How about a satin midi dress reasonably covered up at the neck, should be ok for daytime. this kind of thing.

I actually tried on that red Zara one. I found it was too fussy around my middle part which is my ‘problem area’ for want of a better word! I like it though for being a bit different.

Does it have to be a dress? For daytime how about a satin midi and blouse or black trousers with a fancy shirt or blouse? I know you said you don't like Monsoon lacy stuff but they have some nice shirts and blouses which would work during the day but still look a bit fancy. Alternatively there are jumpsuits or tuxedo suits or perhaps just a pretty fitted dress in a bright colour. You could wear a block or lower heel shoe with trousers.

I'd personally feel a bit self conscious in full length sequins during the day at a work event, unless I was also continuing into the evening.

Are you able to give us details on whether it's a sit down event, type of venue, type of people?
