Would this Barbour coat look daft on a short person

Can Barbours be shortened? I tried this on recently and it came down to my knees which is longer than the design but I can’t decide if it looks ok knee length 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it will look fine - there are lots of coats in that style which are knee length. I feel your pain as a fellow shortie!

It will be fine. I actively went looking for a longer length Barbour (and in the end I could only find one in the Margaret Howell for Barbour range). I realise they were originally designed for crawling around in mud with a shotgun but, for urban life, I think any kind of rainwear that doesn't cover your knees is one of the silliest ideas in fashion.

It will look lovely

Thanks. Am going to order it. They didn’t have my size in the shop yesterday but found it cheaper online

Great coat! If you do feel the need to alter it, make sure to find a dedicated tailor!

I have that Barbour sweater 😄

Amen. I have a Barbor coat and its absolutely wonderful bar the fact my knees get incredibly wet where all the water just runs off onto them.

Saying that I am also disappointed mine doesn't have a poachers pocket in it like my male colleagues, he can fit a bottle of wine in it!

I've realised by reading this that my Barbour coat is meant to look like the picture - I'm 5ft1 and it goes to my knees which is great as it keeps a bit more of me cosy and dry! I can't find my exact one online but it's SO good, wind and waterproof (where I live both are important) Enjoy 😊

I'm short and I think it will be fine .You're right to consult though . Size is a major consideration though . Especially the lovely floaty long dresses for the summer which can look ridiculous on shorties ! We just have to look on with envy .

I think it will look good. I’m 5’2” and would definitely wear it.

I think it would look odd shortened as the zip would be right down at the hem and on a practical level would make it too tight for walking.
