Retinol - can anyone recommend me one?

Would love some advice on recommended retinols on the market right now. There are so many out there that it's rather overwhelming!

I previously had been using tretoinin (not retinol I appreciate) and it was amazing but I can't get my hands on it now (colleague brought it from India)

I'm mid 30s and post baby I feel like I've aged a decade! Not to mention having to scale back spending on SMP so my usual spendy skincare needed to change.

I don't mind investing in something decent - I just want to know it's good!

Many thanks Blush

@NovemberName and @FindMyLocalSite thank you and I hope you both get along with it. If it’s your first time with tret then take it really slowly at first, just once or twice a week with moisturiser and build up gradually from there. Your prescription will be set up to renew every 4 weeks so I would increase that at least initially while you build up.

I have heard A313 is good. Have ordered some on Amazon

Medik8 crystal retinal

I get tret from skin + me and it's made a big difference to my skin.

No7 is awesome. If it irritates, just put it on every 3 days and work up to every day. It doesn't take long for skin to get used to it.

Another vote for Dermatica. There's a deal for the first month to be <£3, plus I'm sure if you use a referral code you're get money off as well. Reply if you want my code. I'm. Been using it for about 3 months and my skin is brighter, fine lines are going, make up sits better, hate the peeling though.

How do you become someone that ‘handles it? ‘

I can’t deal with the flaking. It looks and feels unsightly. Is it worth sticking with it?

I’ve used a cheap one… skin saints. Flaking started straight away.

I like Geek & Gorgeous as a brand and their retinal (not retinol). It’s called A-Game and comes in 2 strengths. I’ve had no irritation at all.

I think I'm about 7 weeks in, I only get peel around my chin area but I hate it! I was hoping it wouldn't still be happening by 3 months 😩

There are many, I use the tretiwell.
Here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Vanicream moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Are you breastfeeding though? If so, you can't use retinol, it's not safe x

Therealmetherealme · 22/05/2024 07:07

@newcross I was red and stinging at the beginning,so I only use it every other day and hold off a few days of on having my brows done, so i think I've just slowed everything down. That , or I had a face of leather and it will take years Smile

I know this is an old thread, but I clicked on the link and paid the 2.99 for the consultations with Dermatica hoping I'd also be prescribed the retinoid or tretinoin but ended up with just a skin glow? How do I get the other two prescribed by them? Also I've been sent no information on future costs, is it a one off payment? Sorry for all the questions! Thank you

This was me 4 years ago. I just stopped putting it on my chin area. A few years later and I found that my skin could tolerate it so can put it everywhere now.
