Eyes getting smaller with age: non-surgical solutions?

CharlotteRumpling · 18/11/2023 12:52

I am in my 50s and do a job that involves a lot of time on the computer. Happy with my skin overall, but my eyes seem to be shrinking and I always look tired.

Not interested in fillers or injectables. Any other solutions? I have had to change my makeup a bit. Black liner now makes my eyes look smaller.

Change to brown mascara and use brown powder to line eyes.

Computers don’t make your eyes shrink. It’s ageing that does that!
Grey or brown eyeliner is flattering as @Geppili suggests.

I had to completely change my eye makeup routine, no black eyeliner instead a grey or brown, absolutely no very dark eyeshadow. The darker shades I do use I bring higher over the lid and crease, but keep to the outer eye corner. Always use eyelash curlers and then a waterproof mascara as it holds the curl.

Surely the OP just meant it’s been noticed by her as she is spending a lot of time on video calls? That’s how I read this anyway. Sympathies if so, I can’t stand this thing of having to look at yourself during meetings!

OP what works for me is when my eyebrows are waxed, shaped and tinted, as well as using liner to tight line only. Tight lining seems to emphasise my eyes in a really good way, as opposed to liner that makes them appear smaller.

Eyes don't shrink with age they look smaller due to sagging skin and lack of firmness.

Admittedly I’m only in my thirties, but I have one eye that looks puffier than the other. I must sleep on it weirdly. It looks worse after drinking, and better after a bit of guasha in the shower, drinking loads of water, and exercising/sauna.

Thanks all. Already use prescription tret which has helped my skin but age has caught up, I guess. Have always been a no makeup person, but probably need some now.
