Please help me find an outfit for a big event… so nervous!

I have to go to a last minute event next week (so delivery times a consideration).. I’m happy to spend up to £200 to find something perfect but would prefer less!

I am so socially unconfident and dreading this and really have nothing appropriate.

The dress code is fabulous, ball gowns, sequins… there’s no such thing as overdressed.

I’d love advice of shoes etc too, I never know what to put with what and really stressing out about this.

I have quite a large chest so usually avoid high necks and go for a V or a wrap (but like, a fake wrap over or I use a safety pin 😅) and I hate the tops of my arms so a sleeve of some kind would be good. I don’t have my shoulders, just the tops of my arms.

I promise I’ll come back if people do take the time to send me suggestions, I would really really appreciate the help!

What are your favourite colours? Do you already have a coat to go with it? What type of heels are you hoping to wear?

I have quite a smart black coat that I can wear undone. I usually wear darker colours, should say I’m a 16.

I have no clue about heels / if I should wear tights / sandals? I’m really looking for advice and happy to buy shoes too.

I have a lot of bags though! 😅

What about renting, I wouldn't spend too much if you're never going to wear it again. Look at My WardrobeHQ or a local dress hire. Do you like heels, how tall are you.

I’m about 5’5 and I’m happy to buy heels but generally I’m not a heel wearer…

I don’t mind buying a dress, so it doesn’t have to come from a rental place but I’m open to either!

Roman have got loads of glitzy dresses in so you should look online there. They come quickly too. 😊

You could always wear a cropped cardigan over the top if you really love this dress .

This is fairly classic so you would be able to wear to another event in future .

Yes I was going to suggest wearing a cropped cardigan and by the end of the night, if you're feeling brave- throw off the cardigan and enjoy yourself!

Have a look at Monsoon. They have loads. There is so much glitter and sequins in the shops currently. As regards rentals, I don't know why people don't seem to notice that these are usually is very small sizes.

Sorry misread thought it was party rather than ball dress, how about this elegant & not too loud as your unconfident.

Don't rule out higher necks, if you wear a dramatic pendant it creates the same impact as a wrap or v neck
