Advice please, what is best to do about broken nails

Argh today has been such a nightmare.

In amongst everything, I have broken 3 nails in a row.

I have short nails (currently just slightly longer than the tip) and for work I lift a lot of boxes and so cannot have them long. Today I grabbed an box wrong and I have bent back three, forefinger, middle and ring finger nails right to the middle of my nail. Two are split on the sides right in the middle of my finger, the 3rd not split but a white line all across my nail half way down.

I don't ever use false nails or do acrylics as i can't work with them on. I did gel once but it wrecked my nails underneath.

What suggestions do you have for me to get through this until they grow please?. It feel like it's going to be months rather than weeks as the breaks are half way down my nail. Please don't say acrylics, I do a physical job and these could rip off.

I'm thinking if I do gel coating then it's going to have to have it done a few times, my own nails will take even longer to recover if I go on previous experience.

Glue isn't going to work I don't think, it would be ok if we were talking a rip just at the top of nail where it would grow out in a week or so.

And they are so sore and I keep bumping them. In fact the one nail folded right back and I had to pop it flat again.

Arrgghhh.

That sounds really sore.
Mine split from the side though not as low as yours has. Best thing I’ve found is Naitiques. You apply a fresh coat each day, one on top of the last, for about a week then remove with a gentle non acetone remover & start all over again till the split has grown out. I’ve found it far more effective than things like OPI Nail Envy.

Thank you for the recommendation. I decided it's not something I can diy so have booked into a nail salon tomorrow and it seems like she will use a rubber based builder gel. It's going to take a few months I think, so I will also need to haul out the nail and hair vitamins I stopped taking.

It's so bloody sore though, definitely bruised the fingers along the way.
