Please help me conceal my dark under eye hollows

Hi,

I’m 46 and have recently noticed my under eye area is looking more hollow and shadowy.
I think a tan over the summer has covered this but now it’s all I see when I look in the mirror.

I generally don’t wear much make up, maybe a tinted moisturiser if I’m looking a bit peaky and a Boots No. 7 equivalent of YSL Touché Eclat in this specific area. It’s not enough.

Please don’t recommend tear trough fillers (ain’t gonna happen!)

I get plenty of sleep. Must drink more water. I use a cheapy Aldi moisturiser (did use a The Ordinary caffeine thing on this area but don’t think made much difference).

Please recommend me an under eye concealer to help!!

Watching with interest

Must be the week for it - felt mine were really noticeable too!

I like IT Cosmetics bye bye under eye, a little goes a long way and it doesn't sit in lines as much as other things.

Mamma1982 · 14/11/2023 16:29

Watching too

LazyDoll · 14/11/2023 16:41

Googling now! Thank you. Quite a few threads in this topic in Search but all descend into tear trough filler chat… may be the best way but it’s definitely not for me 😬

I use a peachy pink-toned concealer by ELF. The colour correction is what does the trick.

Sammysquiz · 16/11/2023 06:58

Try a corrector under a concealer. Bobbi Brown do good ones, but you’ll need to go into a store and try them as the wrong shade will make them look worse!

StasisMom · 16/11/2023 07:46

Someone on another thread has suggested Catrice under eye brightener.

beststepforward · 16/11/2023 08:09

I reallly like Mac Pro long wear concealer. Also Sunday Riley auto corrector is great but it's mega bucks. Can buy it on skin freaks buy and trade fb page a little cheaper

Cupofteaandpacketofbiscuits · 16/11/2023 08:51

I second the under eye corrective concealer. Bobbi Brown is good, Body Shop do one which is good too. They usually come in a small pot and are quite thick. I "paint" it on using a tiny, fairly stiff eyeshadow brush and then blend it in to foundation. You have to be patient with the application because if you put it on too thickly it can settle in creases, but if you take time (and ideally apply it using a magnifying mirror so the application is even) it can work well.

Cheeesus · 16/11/2023 08:54

Yes to peach. And also something liquid rather than in a pallet. Eg the Kiko peach one.

Swear by Trinny London BFF Serum Eye Concealer- sometimes mix it with Clinique brush thing similar to the Touché Elait.

KaySararSarar · 16/11/2023 09:10

@Cheeesus thanks so much!! I had an amazing Mac tiny pump liquid that worked so well on my basically purple under eyes and now can’t find it - just order this!! Will report back

dumdededdumdum · 16/11/2023 09:53

Or beauty pie under eye brightener.

Rjahdhdvd · 16/11/2023 09:54

Bobby brown corrector and concealer is great, I’d go to see them to see what you think when they put it on you

LazyDoll · 07/12/2023 19:02

Great recommendations thank you. Off to research them all now I’ve recovered from godawful virus which h did nothing to help my pallor!!

was it any good ?

Blueuggboots · 07/12/2023 19:43

I use garden of wisdom eye serum in the morning and temple spa windows of the soul at night. They have definitely improved my lower eye area.

Blueuggboots · 07/12/2023 20:26

I'm 2 years older than you and have always had terrible dark shadows under my eyes. I stopped concealing and started using good skin care..

KaySararSarar · 08/12/2023 06:26

@userxx - it’s just ok, there is a difference using it under concealer but it’s no where near as good at cancelling the blue out as the Mac one

userxx · 09/12/2023 10:15

@KaySararSarar you’ve saved me a purchase, thanks!

rockstarshoes · 09/12/2023 12:16

I think as you get older to not try & conceal the whole area.

So a little brightening concealer on the inner under eye & in the upper inner corner & then a little on the outer under eye.

It sort of takes the emphasis from the under eye are & draws the eye away.

Don't put concealer over the whole area it will look worse!

Margot2017 · 09/12/2023 13:58

The best I’ve ever used is Cle de Peau. You need to use eye cream first, then swipe it on over the cream. It’s expensive, lasts forever and works wonders.
