Recommendations for decent, mid-priced professional clothes (suits etc)

I'm starting a new job in the Spring (damn 6 month notice period...) and I've lost weight in the last couple of years so all my pre-Covid smart clothes are now looking big and shabby.

It's a promotion to Director in a corporate setting and I really need some new suits. Currently I wear dresses (eg Boden) with my old suit jackets (including my favourite which is an Austin Reed one that still looks great) or separate trousers with the same not-quite-matching jackets.

I've looked at Hobbs but it's just a bit out of my price range at the moment. Next and M&S websites seem dire and I can't really find anything. Is there anywhere else that does decent smart, fairly traditional women's suits?

Thanks in advance Thanks

Vinted and Ebay are your friends here. I love The Fold and it doesn't get much more corporate, but am not keen on the price. But I pick up bits second hand all the time and they are often barely worn. Really lovely dresses that don't need a jacket - I think totally matching suits are a bit old fashioned unless you go for a good colour or interesting cut (which fortunatly The Fold do as well)

Thanks so much - I'm not in London any more (in the NW) so totally out of the citywear loop and I hadn't heard of The Fold before. Blimey, those prices!

Good idea about Vinted, I've only just discovered it. The only issue is I don't know about sizing for brands I don't already own (in general I'm a 12 bottom, 10 top) so for first-time buying, I'll need to be able to return until I'm happy with the sizing. What's The Fold like for sizes?

Will definitely check it out - thanks again.

They are v expensive, but incredible quality and wash and wear so well. I feel amazing in mine, and always get compliments on outfits
Sizing is pretty true I find, I'm a 12-14 and the trousers are very long which is great.

Buying suiting in general works really well as you get a lot of very gently worn stuff so I rarely buy anything new

Hobbs is too pricy but The Fold is do-able? The mind boggles...although I am probably just jealous as i am too fat and poor to wear The Fold (that metallic satin midi skirt with the teal blue top though 😍)

@PonyPatter44 do able second hand...

That is very true, Dibbler. Off to Ebay I go, to gaze sadly at second-hand The Fold.

Yes I'd only be looking second hand!
