Has anyone bought anything from Boden since their recent ‘relaunch?’

I was a bit fanatical about Boden in about 2012. Hadn’t bought anything since 2020 and drifted to other (less flouncy) brands.

I saw a gorgeous looking skater style dress in a peacock blue this year. Very like their old styles, which really worked for me.

It was so disappointing. £85 for the thinnest viscose you could imagine (think the cheapest supermarket dress material.) Obviously not lined. knickers and bra strap showed through. Literally, every expense spared.

There are a couple of more expensive things I like the look of - a velvet blazer, merino sweater and tweed skirt. Now wondering if I should bother even ordering.

Has anyone had a more positive experience?

No, but I was in Monsoon earlier and very disheartened at the fabric wuality on offer there.

Saving up for The White Company!

@YearsofYears I think a lot of WFH too has made a difference- if no one much is seeing you then plenty are happy in leggings and jeans and a £25 top from Next or M&S or H&M etc

My chinos with pockets arrived from White Stuff and while they are a bit more casual/washed in fabric than your usual Boden stuff they have three sets of pockets. Double set each side of the front (hard to describe) and a small back pocket each side. I can actually put my phone in my hip pocket!

I bought the velvet bow earrings in black.

Same pockets @FayCarew but a different trouser style.

Well, navy velvet top arrived. I like it. Christmas party sorted (low key affair).

I don't think they've gone downhill, they've always been a bit odd! They have a lovely top in one gorgeous colour that sells instantly and three other weird colours that'd make you look like a clown. This has always been their shtickkk. 25% of their stuff is lovely, and 75% of their stuff is laughably garish. More olives, burgandys, teals, muted shads of reds, rusty shades of orange. But no, it's playroom yellow, santa red, hallowe'en orange. I don't know why they do it. Actually maybe the colours are better this year.

I used to wear them all the time - every day for work etc. But since the 'revamp' in 2020 when they started churning out crop tops and nasty tent dresses for £150 I have avoided them and just bought old styles from Ebay. I like classics myself - plain bright cashmere, merino and cotton knits, no crop tops as at 52 I don't want to see my gut, even if its toned, chinos, plain slim trousers (i loved the Richmond trousers). All these things I bought have been discontinued, and if the comments sections on various social are to be believed i'm not alone in missing those items. Jonny has shot himself in the foot twice by ignoring his core buyer - as lets face it those 19 year olds are going to to to Zara or Pull and Bear not to Boden.

DoodlesMan they were the styles I loved too. Bright cashmere, velvet, a bit of tweed. The odd print dress. Sadly, no more or now very poor quality.

I tried to post an online review about the disappointing fabric quality, but surprise, surprise, the review never appeared on the Boden website.
