What can I do with my hair and grey roots?

Please I do not want to grow my grey out.😊

This is my hair - highlights and a tint done every 8 weeks or less - obviously needing done now. 😣

Would it be easier for maintenance if I had balayage or similar ( don't know all the techniques) - what do they do with that? Would they only do a tint all over the roots? Would it be cheaper? Saving money is not the aim - it just looks so ugly at this stage.

It's not bad but go for a balayage/highlights every few months with roots done every 6 weeks or so.

Thanks @Basilthymerosemary. I'm a bit scared of having a darker top as it were . I'm so used to the blond now.

I really don't se much grey at all, you could embrace the darker roots, it is the norm

A root smudge might be better for you and you can keep your blonde.

I do like both of these. I'm going to have to have a chat with my colourist as I'm not familiar with all these terms.

Ash toner to get the warm tones out of the coloured hair and it will blend a lot better with the regrowth.

In future get your colourist (or find a new one) to put in highlights and lowlights that are a better match to your natural hair.

The coloured hairsprays help a little with regrowth too.

I've got similarly coloured hair and my hairdresser blends it all so well I go 3-4 months between visits.

@Saggypants I HATE my natural hair colour with a vengeance . `I don't think I could face it . Have only seen it in roots as have been colouring hair for 50 plus years.

Your natural hair looks more ash toned than your coloured hair which is quite yellow. I guess I was picturing a bit of your natural colour highlighted with ash blonde. I feel like ash blonde would clash less with your roots.

Thanks @Saggypants that is useful to consider. Would also make the transition to grey eventually easier.

Is it actually grey? It just looks like an ashy toned dark blonde colour to me 🤔

NoNotMyHair · 06/11/2023 14:14

@madeinmanc yes it is grey. 😕
