Are these M&S jeggings any good?

MademoiselleFrenglish · 02/11/2023 13:08

After trying 5 million different types of jeans over the past couple of years, I've accepted that jeggings are for me. I like the look of these M&S ones, does anyone know if they're any good? I'm size 8-10 but a bit short - 5ft2.

The size is apparently to do with machine cutting multiple pairs at once. So some layers are slightly bigger.
I have 6 pairs that are ok and one that slips down badly.

Darlingleavealightonforme · 02/11/2023 20:43

I'm wearing these (indigo) as I type! These (and the Next power stretch ones) are the only jeggings I'll buy. They're comfy as, don't lose their shape and wash brilliantly time and time again!

Vansbrowneyedgirl · 02/11/2023 20:47

I’ve around 10 pairs! Wear them almost every day. Last forever.

When the black ones get faded I chuck them in the machine with a Dylon dye and they come out like new.

Lisbeth50 · 02/11/2023 20:48

I have several pairs - they're great!

Mirabai · 02/11/2023 21:57

Are the waistbands on these not super uncomfortable?

Laiste · 02/11/2023 22:35

Just bought a pair in grape because of this thread! (damn Mumsnet 😂)

To be fair i've had them last few winters in various colours. Comfy and soft.

I agree about the sizing being slightly varied though. I found the black comes up small as a rule, but all the colours are prone to it.

StarDolphins · 02/11/2023 22:38

I e got 4 pairs of these & had them years (they were £10 so tells you how long ago) they’re brill, wash well, still look great & I wear them so much.

eggandonion · 02/11/2023 22:45

I am leaning towards grape... i need new black...

EnchantedAutumn · 02/11/2023 23:40

I found them too thin personally. Not great for warmth. This is also visible in the fabric and they look a tad cheap.
I measured them against fantastic leggings from Jcrew though, which were so perfect and now sadly gone. They had the feel and look of expensive denim but were so, so comfy.

StarlightLady · 03/11/2023 06:02

I have 2 pairs, l like them but wish they had a lower waist. There’s high and there’s ridiculous.

Westwindworries · 03/11/2023 07:48

I have two pairs and wear them a lot.

sadsufferer2023 · 03/11/2023 08:02

I have 3 pairs and they're great, they last a while, comfortable and a good price!

LlynTegid · 03/11/2023 08:04

Start your search for jeans again.

MademoiselleFrenglish · 03/11/2023 09:53

Oooh ok lots of mixed experiences then, I'll see what I think when they arrive next week. I've tried loads of other jeggings over the years and have been disappointed. I miss when they were fashionable and every brand was making them, I struggled to find any that seemed good until I thought of M&S.

@LlynTegid I would LOVE to be a jeans gal, but I'm just sick of wasting money and always hating them, never reaching for them. The waist bands/zip area are always annoying and jut out, giving me a big gut, or they say they're skinny jeans but they're really not, or the bum goes super saggy after 1 wash. I've bought cheap and expensive and just simply don't get on with them, sadly.

I'm glad someone has posted about Jeggings. I have been buying Asda George Jeggings for quite a long time. The £12.50 ones, I've always liked the fit and material as in not too thick and stiff or too thin and stretchy like many others I have tried.
But they always wear down very quickly, as in between the top of the legs.
The colour wears out quite quickly too.

But with not being able to find others that suit, I've had to stick with theirs, and they've now been out of stock in pretty much every size for how long 🤦‍♀️
So I have been looking around and will now give M&S a try, sadly sold out in Indigo in my size, but hopefully they will have them back soon and nice to see lots of other colours too!

I remember DS4 was asked at his work place how he managed to keep his black jeans black. This also works for my M&S leggings, which I've had since they were called super skinnies:
Turn them inside out & leave them inside until after you've ironed them.
Wash them at 30 degrees, using non-biological washing liquid & a small amount of fabric softener. Dry on the washing line or on an airer rather than tumble dry. Iron.

Thanks, I never iron or tumble them (I haven't got one). I regularly buy Primark ones and they last longer and I had a pair of black H&M jeans which never faded, but these M&S ones were particularly bad. I remember having a massive rant to my sister about who quickly they faded and they were more expensive.

PoloMintRoll · 03/11/2023 11:14

Yes these are great, I have a few colours and wear often. Good value for money.

champagneplanet · 03/11/2023 11:19

Get them, these are the only ones I buy as the longer leg length is ideal for me. I've got two pairs of each in four different colours! The black fades after a while but is still wearable and I don't think there is any black jeans that don't fade with time.

I'm going to do my black ones with Dylon then! Thanks for that 😊

MademoiselleFrenglish · 03/11/2023 11:30

@Redruby2020 Go for it! I'll report back if they're terrible, so if you don't hear from me then it's safe 😀

I've got the bright blue jeggings from there. I love them

purpleme12 · 03/11/2023 11:33

Odev · 02/11/2023 15:03

I find them hit and miss. Despite buying in the same size, some can feel tighter than others

Agree with this. I got the bright blue ones. But later tried on the other colours and they didn't fit me at all!

JoanThursday1972 · 03/11/2023 12:05

I am wearing these now and I have loads of pairs so I would say the answer is yes!

cheapskatemum · 03/11/2023 20:43

@novalia89 sorry to hear that. Maybe, in this instance, I'm fortunate to live in a hard water area. Not so lucky when it comes to having to descale the kettle though!

lindyloo57 · 04/11/2023 09:28

I think it depends on your shape, if like me a straight figure the fit isn't so good they slip down, if you have a bit of curve, the fit is better, it's been the same for me all my life with jeans, they are so tight on the the waist as my hips are a size less,so to get a good fit on the hips and bum I buy a ten but my waist is a 11/12 .
