Is regatta a good everyday brand for dog-walking padded coat?

I'm looking for a smart-ish padded coat for daily walks, to replace an m&S one that has lasted about 10 years!

I want something mid thigh, no longer or shorter in navy or possibly green. Regatta seems to have a few that look okay at reasonable price range. Are they a good waterproof brand? Do they last if you chuck them in the washing machine if they get muddy? Any other recommendations?

I've never had issues with regatta coats. Tbh most "waterproof" coats end up not very waterproof after a while so I don't feel it's necessary to pay a fortune. You can buy proper washing liquid for coats to try and maintain some level of waterproofing (nikwax)

I buy Regatta for DC and they seem good but I can't see them lasting 10 years. If you want something that will last then I'd go for Paramo as they have a lifetime guarantee but they are not stylish. My didrikson looks better and lasted about 6 years before looking scruffy - still v warm and totally waterproof without ever having re-proofed.

My last Regatta dog walking winter coat lasted 2 years, outer pocket seam broke. DH had similar, zip broke after 3 years. Didn't cost a fortune and was comfy, warm & totally waterproof though.

I like Didirkson but can't find one that is quite right.

Will take a look at Paramo.

Hmm. I definitely want a longer lasting one than that. You've reminded me DC had Regatta jackets and the pocket seam tore on one of those too.

I'll keep looking. Thanks for the reminder.

It's true they end up less waterproof. I suppose I'm looking for one that is padded but slightly fitted. I'm short and don't want to look like a duvet. The one I had is really nicely tailored but too scruffy now. And not at all waterproof. Though I could add some nikwax.
