Do they all work?

How long did you have to use yours to see results?

Depends on hair and skin type

I use the Braun range. Could tell the difference in a few weeks, and now I used it "as and when" and it's amazing. Love mine.

Fair skin and dark body hair

I have a Lumea, been using it since the beginning of September and can really notice a difference now. I was sceptical at the beginning, but it’s great! Am hoping to carry on through the winter and hopefully won’t need to do it much over summer.

I have quite pale skin and brown hair. It scans my skin and told me to use it on the highest setting.

I have a lumea and it's been the best thing ever! I get a little short fuzz on my legs now, just the blonde hairs that aren't noticeable and I shave them maybe once a month. Same for underarms, which has no shaving rash and is so smooth. Bikini line has been really successful too. I haven't tried it on my face/moustache/chin yet as most of my facial fuzz is not that dark/have some whites so I dont think it would be successful. Overall though, I have dark hair and pale skin.

Edited for spelling (I'm sure I'll have missed some!) and I forgot to add timings. I noticed the difference within a couple of months, I think legs took the longest, but the difference to my underarms and bikini line was quick. Now I just use it occasionally as a maintenance.

I’ve had a braun for a few years. I’ve got very pale skin and black body hair which is the best combination. It was brilliant on leg hair and I just do a top up every few months as it hardly grows now. For some reason it hasn’t worked on my armpit hair, no idea why but I’m still shaving it. My hair has now started to go grey:) so I know it won’t work on that.

My lumea took over a year to work on my legs. I'd waxed for 30yrs so I think the hairs were just very tough.
It's worked much quicker on my bikini line though, which was also waxed for 30yrs.
I do maintenance zaps every other weekend. Takes minutes.
It's weird having smooth legs and no ingrowing hairs.

Thank you for your replies.

I bought a cheaper version that was on a deal. Can't tell if it's working yet. I do have light skin / dark hair so fingers crossed!

Had a lumea for years and just upgraded to a new model Braun. Both brilliant and life changing.

I do have fair skin and darker hair.

Lumea was brilliant, but it’s less effective on fair hair. Now I’m over 60 most of my facial hair is white/grey so sadly not working as well - wish I’d bought one earlier!

Ohh I’m jumping on board this thread.
Not for me because I’m ancient so not much hair growth, and I wax my pits (grey hair) and epilate my legs.

My DD like me has ( well I had) dark hair and fair skin though she tans easily, mine is Celtic.
I suggested wax because I can remember years of stubbly painful underarm regrowth and the prickly 5 o’clock shadow. I think if I could’ve avoided that I would have. Dd isn’t keen to try waxing , I know she wouldn’t even switch on an epilator

I suggested IPL and she seems keen

Is it better for her to get this done in a salon? I think it’ll just be her armpits initially.
And what kind of time scale is usual? And rough idea of price?

TIA

I bought a braun about 5yrs ago, so there will be newer models now. Pale/freckly skin and dark brown hair. It took much longer than expected to see results. For comparison, I had 1 session of laser hair removal at a salon/clinic and about 2/3 of my underarm hair never grew back from just 1 session! I then used the braun device at home for over a year- and still have a few stray underarm hairs!

As said, newer devices might be better now, but do look into getting a few salon session done- which will likely be FAR more effective than a home device.
