Hello - not posted on here for years but really need help please for trousers for my 11 year old DD.

She is short for age 141cms, and is wide round the middle. I have to buy her the M&S plus size skirts for school.

Before anyone tells me I just need to put her on a diet she has the same amount of food as her younger sister, and much less than teenager sister. She is very active but just wide shoulders and middle - she just needs her growth spurt!

She lives in leggings and would like to wear jeans or combats - so she feels a bit more grown up now she is a tween. But I can’t find anything- if I go up a size or two it’s too long age 11 stuff she just can’t do up - she has no waist at all.

Any ideas would be great fully received - I’m fed up buying clothes only to see her disappointed face when she tries them on and then the hassle of returns!

Hemming trousers is pretty easy, if you can’t sew at all then maybe a friend would do them for you ? I did my neighbour’s child’s trousers, so it is worth asking a friend. It also can be a cheapish fix if you take them to a local dry cleaners or similar.
Some brands do a range of fits in each age size, I have never understood why this isn’t more normal ! Lands End and La Redoute do different fits, or they used to.
You might find that petite ranges in adult sections may be short enough for her . With trousers, cropped lengths can work as full length too.
At least at her age her shape will be shifting about a lot over the next few years as she grows taller so the fitting problem won’t last too long, but it is really frustrating not getting clothes that fit and always having to return things, I sympathise.
