Brands you loved which went horribly wrong

I was just mourning the demise of the original iteration of Finery, when it was quirky and had great prints and interesting shapes at reasonable prices. Then it became weirdly expensive and Hobbs-esque, then cheap and dull. Any other sad losses? We can weep together.

I'm not sure if they went horribly wrong or just went bust but I bought a lot of clothes from a brand called Jesire at one stage & they were fabulous! I still have some in my wardrobe & I was so sorry when that brand disappeared from he department store I loved.

Also loved Day / Night by Marlene Birger

Ahh I think I had a beautiful green wedding guest dress from Jesire! Did they have a store in Covent Garden? I think it was a French brand?

Does anyone remember Ronit Zilkha? I loved her suits back at the end of the 90s / early 2000s (although I think she’d gone out of business even then - I was buying off eBay).

@CrabbiesGingerBeer my going away outfit was from Ronit Zilka.
It was a beautifully cut dress with matching short sleeved jacket in candy pink.
I remember wandering into the shop in Knightsbridge in 1992 and buying in on a whim.
I’ve kept it despite it being too short and too small.

I had a grey velvet jacket from Ronit Zilkha in the early 2000s. It was gorgeous.

According to an article I’ve found she went mass market working for someone else, they went into receivership and now she’s gone back to basics and is selling as lullilu.

Her clothes look lovely but there’s nothing there I could wear for work anymore.

For about five to ten years (roughly between 1995-2005) I got all my work clothes from Kaliko. They did beautifully cut skirt and trouser suits in lovely fabrics and great colours. The cut and fit were perfect for me, and there was a suitable variation each season and every year. Then suddenly they stopped doing such things and became very dull. However my collection kept me going, Summer and Winter, until I retired in 2013.
I have no call for such items now but sometimes I regret giving them away. Though they had lots of wear, the clothes were in very good condition.

Thanks for this, just looked on Lullilu - I want everything in there.
