Alternative to Bobbi Brown foundation stick?

I love BB skin foundation stick, the colour cool ivory suits me perfectly, but it’s getting so expensive for the amount you get. I don’t mind spending around £40 for a good foundation, but my problem with the stick is that you don’t get anywhere near as much as a liquid foundation so I’m getting through it too quickly. I’ve had Nars Sheer glow before and that lasts much longer, but the the best colour match I can get is Mont Blanc and it’s a tiny bit too pale/pinkish toned. I like something medium type coverage that’s fairly natural. Nothing too heavy or matte, so nothing like double wear. I’m early 40s with pretty good skin, but do have a few fine lines. I’m going into town on the weekend so any recommendations would be great. Thanks everyone.

I feel your pain and in the same boat. I used BB Skin Foundation in Ivory which has been discontinued.

I've got some Clinique Clinical Serum which is okay but maybe too matte for you. I like it (but it's full coverage.) The issue for me is shades. Breeze is half a shade too dark. It seems darker still in their Even Better foundation. If you use Cool Ivory, Breeze might work for you.

I've bought Boots No 7 Lift and Luminate as a standby which is okay (in Porcelain.)

I found the same with Nars- either too pink or too yellow.

Have you had a look at Lancome, Dior or Clarins? or Estee Lauder have a new foundation out that I want to try- 'glowy'. Or Laura Mercier?

In Lancome I think I'm 0.5 or 0.7,
Dior - the palest shade.

I didn't like the BB stick much. I've had two- Porcelain and Neutral Porcelain. I felt they were sticky on my face and I did use powder over the top to set it.

@OopsaDazy the Nars shades are tricky aren’t they, but there’s loads of them so it really should be this hard? I’ve used Clinique before and think I was the shade alabaster? I remember it used to oxide badly. Maybe they’re better now? I do like their BB gel in the summer though.
@Darklane thanks, I’ll have a look at No7, didn’t realise they did a stick.
I don’t mind if it’s not a stick though, it’s just that the one I use at the moment is the perfect colour and I like the finish. But I’m definitely open to liquid foundations.

findation.com/

This site was mentioned on another thread, you tell it what foundations suit you and it tells you what colour are likely to match in other brands.

I use Clinique even better foundation. It’s medium coverage, but very lightweight. It doesn’t oxidise at all. I’m late 40s, with lots of lines and dry skin.

If it suits you perfectly then I’d try and just buy it on offer as you may well spend a lot of money chasing an alternative only to be disappointed.

There are always offers on somewhere :-)

The Bobbi Brown skin full coverage concealer is v good in loads of shades. I use it instead of full concealer - I’m mid 40s..

As we come to Xmas there will be loads of make up offers to buy the one you really love though.

OopsaDazy · 26/10/2023 20:18

@DanceMumTaxi Are you registered with BB for offers?
I've just had an email for 25% off.

It usually means the offers will be open to everyone in another couple of days.

DanceMumTaxi · 26/10/2023 20:37

@OopsaDazy thanks I’ll keep a look out. I used to be registered with them but got fed up of all the emails so unsubscribed.
