Out door wear in daily usage

I'm beginning to see lots of down (ok probably synthetic) padded vests and short jackets.

Men are wearing them over their suit shirts, women over skirts, etc to work.

I already love the look as I've spent lots of time in Iceland where such clothing is necessary rather than a fashion statement.

I'm not sure what skirts / trousers would look good with it if I was wearing it to work as outer wear. Any ideas?

These are the kind of clothes I'm talking about but what they wear is too casual for work. I also travel lots to colder climates so I'll get usage out of it not just as a fashion statement.

Thank you

I can hardly think of anything you couldn’t wear a generic padded gilet or jacket with. They’re entirely neutral, style-wise.

Pretty sure a stylish person could perfectly reasonably wear one on an Oscars red carpet.

That's true I guess. I guess I'm thinking perhaps my more formal work dresses would look a bit daft with it especially the shorter jackets. Though the warmth would be great

I actually have the jacket in the second picture but in dark blue. I bought it on a holiday to Iceland.

If the one you have isn't too bulky I'm seeing a lot of people layering them under wool coats - like this. Works with jeans but also more formal work stuff

That looks lovely but I've gained weight and my wool coats are too tight they won't fit underneath
