Hair suddenly feels like candy floss/shampoo not lathering

Hi, this is a weird specific problem but it's really annoying me.

Over the past month or two my hair has gone really 'candy floss' like - too soft and has like a film over it. My shampoo doesn't lather up properly and when I wash my hair it still feels unclean/film over it. Is this a water issue or my bonce or both?!! Anyone have anything similar? Got a blood test coming up for deficiencies but just curious.

Hair is usually low maintenance - straight, medium fine, easy to manage.

Thanks.

You might need to try a clarifying shampoo. They are usually transparent. They remove the build up of silicones on the hair strands. They may and may not contain sulphates in their ingredient listing.

Thanks @HorribleHisTories15 I'll pick some up. I have tried washing a few times but it's the same but would it need to be a clarifying shampoo?

Clarifying shampoos are just a type that will effectively clear all products from the hair strands. They can be quite stripping if used too often. Have a quick Google for clarifying shampoo examples, and pop a price range in the search function too. Let us know what you choose / find.

All the best!

Yes they are different. They get rid of build up like silicone if you use a conditioner with silicones in and chlorine.

Okay thanks all, will try and see what it does for my lanky locks!!

Once you’ve done that, switch to silicone-free products. They’re much easier to find now than they were a few years ago, and it’ll stop the build-up from… building up again.

Have you moved house, or installed a water softener?
