How do you organise your wardrobe?

I'm pretty happy with the amount of clothes I own but struggle to organise them in a way that helps me find outfits easily. I've tried by colour and I've tried by type of garment. I'm wondering if by occasion would work, so work, weekend and going out, but a few bits cross categories. Interested in how others do it and if it works well.

Not many clothes but I like to order tops in colour, because it looks nice...

Like David Beckham {grin}

Seriously by occasion and type then sleeve length so all blazers together etc.

Tops on bottom rail, skirts, trousers and jackets upper. Everything is pretty much capsule, so mis and match. I put things I've worn recently at the front, so regularly assess the clothes at the end of the rail to see if they're still.my style/fit etc and if they just lanquish there it's time for the charity shop.
