Kids Oodie - would fit a petite adult?

Sorry as know Oodies are not stylish or beautiful… but they are technically clothes!
Been cold in the house this week when WFH with a blanket on my knees… thinking about an Oodie. It says the kids ones are for kids age 7-13. Does anyone know if they might fit a small adult in? (5ft 1, size 10-12) - think I will be completely drowned in an adult one!

in an ideal world I’d find one with a zip (don’t think such a thing exists) as I am often on video calls, which is why I am unsure whether it’s worth getting… but kids ones currently £37 so thinking might be worth it…?!

Yes they do!

Bought one last week, I'm a 12 and 5ft 2 - plus I have boobs - fits great, very soft and warm and also less than £40! I got the navy one

I bought my DH an adult one and it's HUGE - he's 6 ft 3 and very chunky - and it looks mental on him

Happyelfjokeday · 21/10/2023 13:53

Ah awesome. I got my brother an adult one a few years ago and it is roomy on him so was fairly sure would be ridiculous on me!

Yes, I'm 5ft, size 8 and it's still big on me.

Also worth looking at this site https://go.skimresources.com?id=470X1716091&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.5poundstuff.com%2Fproducts%2Funisex-blanket-hoodie-tiedye-purple&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mumsnet.com%2Ftalk%2Fcostoff_living%2F4913447-oodie-knock-offs-or-just-layering%3Fr

Many of these are real oodies with the labels cut. Check the reviews to make sure. I got one recently and it's perfect!

FrogFairy · 21/10/2023 16:42

I am 5ft tall and around size 20.
I bought a couple of hooded fleeces from M&S in child size 15~16 years. They come down to my knees, have loads of room in the body and the sleeves are just right (I did not like the way the adult oodies have bunched up sleeves)

NotaWhiteRefridgerator · 15/11/2023 15:10

How does it fit length wise? As in, does it fit like a hoodie, or does it go down to your knees?

Neverimagined · 15/11/2023 15:12

I just bought an Oodie and sort of wish I'd bought a child's one because the adult one absolutely drowns me. I'm 5'9 and size 8.

Oodie now have a zip-up version - I think it's marketed as an outdoor version. And comes in two sizes.

I have an original version in the standard one size and it's ridiculously big. Although I wonder if that's one of the reasons it's so warm - lots of fabric!

pineapplepinecones · 15/11/2023 17:22

5 foot here and the kids one is perfect. Soooo warm !

Plexie · 15/11/2023 17:23

It's about time they introduced a more realistic smaller size for adults. It would be particularly useful for elderly people, who tend to shrink as they get older. My mum would really benefit from the warmth but there's no point getting one for her because it would just swamp her.

arabellaL · 15/11/2023 17:46

5ft and 8 stone - adult drowned me but had to send back the kids one too as it just felt too snug, especially around the wrists! Not the chilled out vibe I wanted

NotaWhiteRefridgerator · 15/11/2023 20:19

@pineapplepinecones How far down your body does the kids Oodie go? I’m 5ft2” and worried that it will be at my waist like a normal hoodie.

pineapplepinecones · 15/11/2023 20:22

I think to my knees. The arms aren’t too long. But I am quite slim. It will def be longer than waist on you

NotaWhiteRefridgerator · 15/11/2023 20:48

@pineapplepinecones Thank you ☺️

fruitypancake · 15/11/2023 21:02

I would think might be just length of sleeve that could be an issue ?

Happyelfjokeday · 15/11/2023 21:36

I did get one! Slightly snug around the wrists is my only complaint.
its not knee length either, maybe mid thigh? That’s good for me though I didn’t want it to be knee length

Oodie could do with making a narrower cut caftan shaped hoodie for smaller ladies. I looked at the m+s children’s fleece hoodies ( I’m just over 5 foot) and they are a better shape but only a single fleece layer so not as warm. I wondered about the Cudly beach poncho as it looks a better shape - but I assume as it’s meant for summer it is not as warm as a double layer winter oodie or cudly..

Jo8chocolate · 25/11/2023 16:35

Thanks I just ordered an adult sized cat one which looks like a genuine oodie for just £14 including delivery!
