Beautiful basics - silk, cotton, cashmere.

I’m trying to be more mindful with my shopping and build a wardrobe with some beautiful basics (rather than wasting money on impulse buys)

Where do people get stylish silk, cashmere of cotton from? Once I figure out brands and sizes I’m happy to buy second hand.

Oh goodness, that could be a long list! (Have over 100 sites saved to my screen.) It’s good that you’re looking for pre-owned stuff - though it would need to be virtually ‘vintage’ to source the sort of quality that costs gazillions nowadays.

Anyway … A few places I like in particular because of the lovely fabrics. (I actually prefer Shetland, or Geelong wool to cashmere. And any combination of silk / wool / cashmere / linen is especially glorious.)

That’s great thanks so much! I’ll take a look. I’ve just bought a couple of Sezane silk tops and they have a lovely vintage feel to them. Quality probably isn’t top notch though.

I’d be interested to see other people’s suggestions!

Endorsing the Community Clothing recommendation.

I'd add John Smedley for UK made merino wool knitwear. I particularly like their men's V-neck cardigans which are lightweight enough to fit under a jacket / blazer. Never needed to buy it new.

I also recently picked up a Peruvian Connection pima cotton T shirt. A lot of their stuff isn't really my thing but the feel and quality of this T is superb and blows all the other pima cotton I've encountered right out of the water.
