Why can't I find suitable baby slippers?

My son is 14 months old but apparently has big feet for his age. I bought him these slippers from Next two months ago in 12-18m but they were clearly too small. I swapped them for 18-24m which is the biggest size they make them in. They fit but he would've had no growing room.

I really need help finding something similar as I'm running out of ideas. I've tried:

Asda (George)
Morrisons (Nutmeg)
Tesco (F&F)
Next
Boots
M&S
H&M
Etsy
Vinted

Requirements:

  • The slippers MUST fasten with Velcro or a popper - slippers on baby slippers just fall off when he's crawling.
  • They MUST be non-slip as he's learning to walk but does crawl pretty much all the time
  • They need a relatively soft, flexible sole rather than thick and rigid whilst he finds his feet

They're mainly to be used at home but also in the pram/car. For this reason I'm after slippers rather than actual shoes. Ideally navy as it would match most of his clothes but doesn't really matter.

Those from Next ticked every box but come up very small IMO.

Any help appreciated!

That should have said "slip-on baby slippers just fall off...".

Is he crawling/cruising/walking? That's relevant to the most suitable shoe or slipper for him. Have you had his feet measured? DS was a size 5 at 12 months and there's no way something labelled 12-18 or 18-24 months would have fit him. I would suggest getting feet measured and buying the correct size rather than looking at an age in sizing for feet.

Have you considered thick slipper socks instead?

I used to buy the leather soled moccasins from H&M at that age.

My 2 wore the sock moccasin's from JoJo Maman Bebe
If feet are big enough then I would go to Clarks.

If he is learning to walk then he shouldn’t be wearing anything on his feet while doing so.

He should be barefoot because any kind of sock/slipper/shoe hinders development with their balance and coordination.

Shoes are recommended only after baby has been confidently walking for 6 weeks.

My daughter is 14m and wears Mocc-ons at home, and proper shoes (Bobux) when out as she’s walking. The Mocc-ons are good as the sole is thin and flexible.

I’m yet to see a pair of proper baby slippers that are suitably structured and thin soled. Bobux pre-Walker shoes also don’t fall off despite being slip on so they might be an option.

I think Startrite do pre-walkers as I have an 11 month old who is trying to walk. At 35 a pair I'm trying to also find something cheaper.
