What to wear on TV?

Help me, wise S&Bers!

I am recording a TV quiz show next week - won't be too many close ups I don't think, unless I get to the final.

What sort of thing looks good on telly, but is also comfortable under studio lights?

My choices are:
bold print light frock with a cardi
black velvet palazzo pants with black top and an open b/w shirt
navy trousers and top with a cotton navy and white blazer
cobalt baggy ankle grazers with a white T shirt and big jewellery

Rules say flat shoes. if that's a factor.

I have been on TV recently. I was told not to wear black, white or print. Also the lights are very hot. Black is draining, white washes you out sometimes and print is distracting (though may be ok with a cardie). Navy and white sounds best.

I wore a plain teal dress. Flat shoes best as lots of wires.

That's great ta! I had a closer read of the guidelines, and dresses seem to be out as we fix our own mikes. So I'm thinking black trousers w a strong green lightweight shirt.

Good advice from @CharlotteRumpling Also no stripes or checks as they can strobe.

Separates would be better actually. I did wear a dress because I forgot about the mic!

Great, this has been an opportunity to clear out my “tops” drawer nd get rid of anything that I haven’t worn in a year!

I heard somewhere that the tv puts on 10 1bs so I guess clothes that aren’t too bulky.

I was told not to wear white on tv because there can be a glare off it.

TV can put on as many pounds as it likes, not much I can do!

call from one of the researchers today, so I checked that there’s no green screen happening, it‘ll be ok to wear green

Emerald green long sleeved shirt with ruffle front
royal blue loose top slightly shiny front
navy jersey top with tie detail at waist
mustard silky top ( though it’s sleeveless, so might rule out, or else add a cardi)
Turquoise t shirt ( maybe too casual?)

If you are in the studio, it will be warm under the lights so you should be fine without a cardigan if you wore the mustard top. With black palazzo pants, I’d wear either the emerald green, the turquoise or the mustard. I think navy and black could be tricky under artificial lights and I’d also be wary of shiny fabric as that may not react how you expect.

The other thing to watch out for is no visible logos as you may not be allowed those or if you have nothing to change into they will have to blur them out in post edit

No logos on anything, and I’ll put an alternative in my handbag.

Yes agree with pp, plain is better, you can wear a dress and stick the mile in your tights but trousers and too sounds great.

Choose the one that suits your skin tone the best. I'm sure it doesn't matter if it looks casual, so long as it hangs ok and doesn't look crumpled or faded.

Settled in to my hotel near media city, recording tomorrow! Choices hanging up, but I think it’ll be the emerald green shirt.

Gosh it takes a long time to make a 1 hr show! I can tell you it’s the 1% club, so you can imagine how long it takes to Mike check 100 people…….

in the and I went for a maroon and black subtle animal print top, and separates were definitely the way to go. Won’t be broadcast for AGES yet!
