Is this Burberry trench too small?

Got a Burberry trench on eBay (returns accepted). I think it might be too small. The model is the Sandringham so slim fit and the cut is short, so I am aware it's not supposed to be baggy or sought, however I am only truly comfortable if it's open. I can close it but it feels tight at the shoulders. As I said I can return it, so what do you think?

*slouchy, not sought, autocorrect!

Yes, it looks too tight on the shoulders to me.

I’d say it is a bit small, yes. I have an M&S trench that I love (nothing like as nice as that Burberry one, but I like it) and I tried it on this morning. It looks the same fit as yours.

But what is it like when you lift your arms high, or try and wrap your arms around yourself? Mine pulls.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/10/2023 17:45

It fits gorgeous IF you can lift your arms up properly

If you can't, back it goes

We've all got used to things not looking tailored so when I put on a fitted jacket even if it fits lovely I feel restricted Grin

Too much gym, damn 😅

From bitter experience I have learnt that if I have any doubts about the fit of an item I should return,

friskybivalves · 17/10/2023 18:08

Think we need to see it done up as well. Even if you are not going with the buttons, if the two sides are too far apart on a double breasted it just gapes at the front. Bitter experience from one who never learns!

I have decided to return it.

Any advice on nice trench coats for short ladies?

Thinking of the Saskia from Hobbs. Alternatively Bicester Village, it is less than laf a hour from where I live, but I expect that the Burberry Heritage styles won't be on sale?

I agree, especially investment purchases or staple items!

I've got the Hobbs saskia coat. Bought it from an outlet about 4/5 years ago. Wear it every autumn/spring for work. I really like it. Great quality, quite warm without being bulky, and looks stylish. Pretty timeless and worth the investment.

SheSawSeaShore · 18/10/2023 08:27

I’ve got the petite Saskia and I really like it, the fit is really good - although the sleeves are very long, even though it’s petite.

ActDottie · 18/10/2023 08:31

I think it’s too tight too. I always size up in coats as hate them being clingy.
