TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 11:18

Please!
I'm home alone so home shopping has been a nice distraction!
Anyway ordered loads from Zara but can't decide out of the things I like, what to keep and what to send back.

All opinions welcome thank you

The first one is the gillet

What will you actually wear and use more often? I’d probably remove that vest jumper.

catsnhats11 · 17/10/2023 11:22

I'd get rid of the tank knit, I always think if it's cold enough to wear heavy knit you want your arms covered (who would evet wear it like the model!?)

delilabell · 17/10/2023 11:24

I'd send back the green sandals.
I love the trainers

BungleandGeorge · 17/10/2023 11:25

I like the tank knit best! But yes you’d need to wear a top underneath.
are you going to wear the summer items? Cream trousers, sandals etc? The black shoes look like school shoes to me.

thenightsky · 17/10/2023 11:25

How comfy are the shoes and sandals? I find Zara footwear really hard and unforgiving.

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 11:27

The loafers are for work, I hate wearing boots all winter

The tank knit would have a long sleeve basic underneath

I agree Zara shoes and hard AF

Any bag opinions?

I don't NEEEED a bag and have just bought a Uniqlo but I did like the cream

Eviebear9 · 17/10/2023 11:51

I really like the bag @TomAllenWife. love the trainers too

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 12:07

The trainers are lovely and only £22

KirstenBlest · 17/10/2023 12:21

Send back the handbag, gilet unless you are shorter than the model, the tank top, the shoes unless they fit perfectly and are comfortable, the green sandals, the sleeveless top. Not sure about the plimsolls or grey jumper - they're ok.

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 13:15

The grey jumper is a jumper dress, so will just be worn with tights and boots.
I do love a jumper dress!

The striped tank is going back, I don't LOVE it

I ordered the sandals as they were in the sale but I don't love them so they're going back

The bag is going back.

I really like the gillet, it's a good fit and is wind & rainproof

So that just leaves grey knitted tank, shoes & trainers to decide on!

I can't go out at the moment so it's a nightmare trying to decide on anything

I love a sleeveless jumper, they allow you to be active and not boil over. Also they are great under a waterproof coat. If you are pretty inactive they are probably not so useful.

Fleetress · 17/10/2023 13:26

Out of curiosity, how much did you spend altogether on this haul, @TomAllenWife? And would you rather have this selection than One Good Thing?

(I adore Zara’s styling but I know most of their stuff is crap in the flesh. Was in a physical shop yesterday and could find hardly any of the things I’d admired on the website. The one thing I did recognise was laughably tiny - even the extra large would have been a stretch for a normal sized person. And the material was horribly thin. I’ve had the odd lovely thing, but they’re so rare.)

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 13:34

@Fleetress oh god I ordered loads!!! In excess of £1k
Have been bed ridden so nothing else to do

These were the only items I liked but just needed someone to say yea that's nice

I agree Zara is very hit and miss! I've got a jumper dress from about 8 years ago that still wears and washes well. I've got other items that haven't lasted a season or need repairing

Jewelspun · 17/10/2023 13:36

Do not like the trainers. Like the gilet and the grey sleeveless knit.

But I'm elderly.... 😬

seeusername · 17/10/2023 13:46

I’d remove the green sandals (wrong weather) and the grey and stripy vests. Not sure about the bag either, it’s lovely but not right for autumn/winter. I really like the rest.

Fleetress · 17/10/2023 13:50

Oh well … Grin

In your position, wanting knitwear, I’d be avidly browsing the websites of

& Daughter
Babaa
La Fetiche

for colour, or Raey for drab neutrals.

And maybe mixing one of their pieces with a flimsy Zara skirt.

(I did buy an emergency sequinned bag for a festival there this Summer, but generally I wouldn’t waste my money on their shoes or bags, because I like things to look good for years.)

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 16:53

@Fleetress OMG!!! I don't have that kind of money to spend on knitwear
I only ordered so much stuff as I knew 90% would be going back.

I'm down to the shoes & trainers now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Keeping the grey knit tank

Zara use a generic mould for their shoes from that I understand so are less likely to be comfortable. If you follow Andrea Cheong on Insta she explains about this every now and again.

If you like the tank/vests M&S surprised me with one in their autograph range that was wool and cashmere, I like them with something under them.

Supersimkin2 · 17/10/2023 17:51

Yep, the m and s one is great.

SquashPenguin · 17/10/2023 17:53

The green sandals are an abomination.

Gowlett · 17/10/2023 17:58

Woah, a thousand quid? I always thought Zara was a cheap shop. I must be wrong!
