Under eye - how to just not look like I’m aging 🤣 👁️

Hi all,

I’m 39 and generally look ‘okay’ but I’m fairly rubbish at knowing about this stuff.

So, my under eyes are looking ‘old’.. puffy, few wrinkles, dull etc. I know lifestyle makes a difference but I’m relatively healthy (sleep enough, drink water, eat well, exercise etc.)

my current routing is quite simple - moisturise on a morning (with an spf - the fancy one from Aldi) and I use retinol before bed (the ordinary.. can’t remember the % but it’s in the middle and I don’t get any reactions just smooth feeling skin). I occasionally do a nice face mask too. And I’ll sometimes use a cleanser or use an exfoliating face mask (family hit and miss with all this!). The rest of my face looks ok. But I do absolutely nothing special for my eye area and I think it’s beginning to show.

So, in therms of general eye skin care - what should I do? I’ve read that caffeine products are good for the under eyes and I know the skin is more sensitive/thinner… but there are so many things to buy! I’m lost! Do I moisturise? If so what with? Do I do any special retinol type things (I avoid retinol in the eye area as i feel like it’s too harsh for delicate skin) are caffeine products worth a try, and when would I use them? I don’t want to spend a load of money but I’d prefer something that has a reputation.

I also do occasionally wear a bit of make up and this whole eye area situation is an issue… the lines look worse with make up! And I want to look fresh faced and youthful! So any tips for eye make up (not the eye shadow etc.. more something to cover huge bags which seem way bigger to me than anyone else!). I’m a minimalist make up wearer… I like to just look like a better version of me rather than using anything too heavy.

I’m using the No 7 Future Renew Eye Serum. I’m on my third tube and it’s actually made a difference. I’m a few years older than you, but my eye area in general looks better, fine lines are reduced and make up sits better and doesn’t sit in the creases.

For make up, I use IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye. You only need a tiny bit, but it’s the best I’ve found for covering dark circles.
