First time in some years I can afford winter boots - HELP! I don't know where to go!!

I'm a size 8/42, wide fit.

I can't wear high heels or pointed toes - must be flat or low heel and round/square toes, basically foot-shaped!

I've had cheap Evans and Shoe Zone boots before - nice enough but lucky if they last the season before the sole peels off.

I like quite statementy Viking / Saxon / riding boot styles I can stride around in and look nice with jeans tucked in or under skirts.

Prefer brown/grey to black/colours.

Like details like buckles and straps.

Prefer longer to ankle boots - don't like the skirt hem / boot top gap.

A soft inside would be nice - and waterproof.

Leather or man-made.

Time's quite limited to weekends and it's pointless ordering shoes online as they usually have up go back.

I can do up to £150.

If you've encountered anything exciting on your shopping trips please could you point me at it!

Thankyou

These are slightly over budget but likely to be comfortable and when I’ve bought boots from Clark’s previously they have lasted for two seasons rather than just one so could be a saving in the long run

No use to you as they’ve closed now but I bought some beautiful grey suede slightly strappy Spanish knee high boots in Northcross Road (Dulwich).

pizzaHeart · 15/10/2023 11:11

Clarks has got quite a few interesting boots but short ones, the high ones are more expensive then your budget.
it’s worth to look online and then order to the shop if you are near, the same with Charles Clinkard, you can then try in the shop and return straight away if not suitable.

I like Nevada boots which @GonnaGetGoingReturns posted.

I have a pair of Sorel Cosy Joan boots. They look like suede but are waterproof and toasty warm. Prices range from around £145 to £65 depending what size and colour you pick. Easily the best winter boots I’ve had, this is the third year in a row I’ve worn the same pair and they’re still in good condition.

Fly London Women's Mes 2 Chukka Boots amzn.eu/d/ax4NI5b

These are my faves. Comfy from the first wear. I've worn them for years and years and had them in all colours. 👌🏽

Try Moshulu - lots of styles & colours in really good leather or suede.

I second this recommendation forFly London Mes. The comfiest boits I’ve ever worn and I also have a few pairs. The original pair are five years old and look like new!

minipie · 16/10/2023 13:49

If you want proper warm waterproof winter boots then I’d look at Columbia or Sorel rather than any high st options

Sandalholidays12 · 16/10/2023 13:52

Mode in pelle have some good sales on at times. I've had some nice ankle and long boots before. I quite like New look boots too! They do a Blue light discount also OP

Look at Ecco too - I have a pair I bought 6 years ago, they were re-soled last year and now the lining is so ripped I may have to finally replace but they've been amazing, suit my wide feet and completely waterproof. In comparison,
I couldn't find a single pair wide enough in M&S yesterday, even the so called wide fit still seem to come to a point at the toes and pinch my feet.

Sunshinedahlias · 16/10/2023 14:43

Bellissimo at Pavers, great wide fit and v reasonable price
