I really like this columbia sherpa coat but I would like something longer, mid thigh at least.

And my sensible side is saying waterproof but they're not cosy looking and I hate crinkly coats.

Any ideas?

I've got a couple that look similar to that. I want something like fleece inside or Teddy. Just COSY

Seasalt make great waterproof dog walking coats

Mumaway · 13/10/2023 20:51

I have a really good waterproof puffer from Sainsbury's. Cheap and practical, has lasted years

BuddhaAtSea · 13/10/2023 20:55

Sea salt Janelle. Might not be the height of stylishness, but I absolutely love it.

ScoobyDoesnt · 13/10/2023 20:58

I’ve just bought this one for walking the dogs - great price, and it feels really warm (so not worn it yet!). I wanted something warm, longer and at least showerproof.

I was going to by a RAB one (I have a short RAB coat which I love!) but this was a quarter of the price.

They do it in grey too

That looks cosy! What's the sizing like? I'm a 12/14 but want it roomy so I can layer

I’m a 12 but bought a 14 so I could put layers under (also they didn’t have a 12!). I tried it on last week with just a t-shirt as it was so warm, and felt I could get plenty under it when needed.

Tresspass dm bought one of these a couple of winters ago when she moved to Yorkshire. It's been brilliant! Warm and waterproof and superb for dog walking.

IjustbelieveinMe · 14/10/2023 02:07

I live in Melbourne where every man (and his dog) wear puffa jackets so I avoid them! I wear this walking my dog in the cold weather, it's fabulous

This winter I will be wearing my DryRobe. It’s not pretty but it’s wind proof, waterproof and has a lovely cosy lining plys it’s huge so I can layer up underneath if it gets really cold. I know they’re meant for swimming etc but I don’t see a problem with wearing it as a coat though I have been warned about a FB group called DryRobe Wankers for people who do such outrageous things.

Landsend are brilliant. Canadian so very good for the cold.

I have both of these.

Down, waterproof and in the sale at £120, less than 1/2 price. Very cosy and warm. https://www.landsend.co.uk/WomensHooded_Expedition_Maxi_Long_Down_Coat/pp/P_42439.html?dwvar_P42439_sizeVariation=59&dwvar_P42439_color=F51&cgid=11299

More expensive even with the promotion. Thinner but very adequate with a fleece jacket underneath.

Jack wolfskin is very good. You may get this cheaper if you shop around. This is a 3 in 1 with fleece. I used to walk at -15C in the winter in a JW coat so they’re good quality. But prefer a longer length these days.

Forgot to add - these type of coats have 2 sets of elastic in the hood so it stays in your head even in strong winds.

@PricklyWhenWet (or anyone else with a dryrobe) are the sleeves fleecy lined? Nowhere seems to mention it either way in the descriptions.

My arms feel the cold more than anywhere else on my body.

https://www.very.co.uk/michelle-keegan-reversible-teddy-longline-coat-black/1600846535.prd#sku=sku26779872 I have this one, I did have to size up but it's so cozy and comfy.

Darkosx3 · 14/10/2023 20:57

I have a Cosimac,it's actually an outdoor swim robe but I use it for pretty much everything but that. Great in Winter in a mucky horse field, hockey sidelines spectating, dog walking. Putting the bins out 😂 it's been worn camping and cooler summer evening beside the campfire. I got mine last black Friday. ww.cosimac.com/robes

Wolfiefan · 14/10/2023 20:58

Dryrobe does have fleecy arms.
I love my seasalt Janelle. Longer coverage. Warm without being too hot. Decent hood. Properly waterproof.

EdinaMonsoon · 14/10/2023 21:52

Didrikson's are the absolute best dog walking coats. Plenty of pockets, stylish, water and wind proof and very well made. Mine is now 13, almost 14, years old and still looks brand new.
