How to style a velvet camisole dress

I have a lovely dark blue velvet camisole dress. I wore it to my Christmas party last year and want to get some more use out of it but don’t quite know how to style it. A white t shirts under to dress down feels weird.

Any recommendations from those infinitely more stylish than me?

OP, you have tried hard to describe it, but it’s still rather vague. I agree a white tee may be a bit strange. Can we see a pic?

There is a trend to layering sweaters over dresses now to get more use out of clothes.
