Statement necklace to go with this dress!

Weddingblues23 · 06/10/2023 10:46

Off to a wedding. Have stayed off the booze enough that I can now wear the below dress without flesh oozing out of the cutouts 😀 wearing it with rose gold chunky heels.

Anybody have any ideas for a statement necklace to go with it? The one I have in in this pic just isn't statementy enough would like it bigger and more noticeable. I like warm tones and wear gold not silver, and I avoid black. Happy to spend up to £150 for a knockout piece, but equally happy with something cheap and cheerful from Amazon if it looks nice.

I think you look great just as you are in the photo.

motherstongue · 08/10/2023 10:55

I would not wear a necklace with that dress. Go for gorgeous earrings and a fabulous bracelet instead

Rainallnight · 08/10/2023 10:57

I’m another one saying earrings. A necklace cuts that dress off at an unflattering point. And the dress has a lot going on at the waist and bust (in a good way) which should be the focal point.

Lots of lovely earrings here which would work.

It’s a lovely dress and congratulations on your weight loss. You’re going to look great.

The dress looks lovely on you

Have a look at vinted

My favourite necklace is from irregular choice. Not sure if they still do jewellery but it is big and bold and beautiful

TellmethestoryofO · 07/10/2023 21:40

The pomegranate one reminds me of lady parts...sorry! 🙈😂

Me too.

lionsleepstonight · 08/10/2023 11:16

Also agree, due to the detail on the waist a statement necklace would compete too much and make the look too busy.

Statement earrings would look better.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/10/2023 11:18

As others have said pomegranate = lady parts to me. Earrings would be nicer.

What’s your footwear like? You could do blingy there.

Love the dress and it’s colour too.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/10/2023 11:19

Sorry you’ve got footwear sorted, ignore me.

You could maybe do a nice bracelet/bangle with the earrings too.

Get a rose gold clutch bag to complete the look instead. This one is £15.

Definitely agree with pp that you don't want to mess with the neckline of this dress; it will clutter up your look far too much. Let the dress (and you in it!) shine.

Statement earrings (not too long, again for the same reason - don't want to mess with the neck/shoulder line) or statement bag. Then something more muted or classic for the other element.

It's a great dress in a great colour and you look fab!

BenjaminDisraeli · 08/10/2023 12:31

I'm team earrings too, because:

-The dress has a lot going on already
-It has a high neck and you're wearing your hair down. Add a chunky necklace and it's all getting a bit top-heavy, whereas earrings (deep green/malachite?) would draw the eye up.

Bottom line, it's a breezy, flirty, pastel-coloured dress, so I'd go for natural materials rather than more sophisticated/metallic accessories. Whatever you decide, enjoy looking gorgeous!

Weddingblues23 · 08/10/2023 17:21

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting so many replies! Thank you all so much for the very lovely comments 🥰 a big confidence boost.

OK so to summarise - pomegranate = fanjo (hadn't spotted that but you're totally right now I look at it) ; earrings better than necklace ; my bouffy hair is a hit even if i find it unmanageable! (this was just quickly shaken down after having been in a bun for 6 days during a crazy week - it's massive.)

Right, big earrings, I'll take a look through the links in the comments and have a look elsewhere too. Bloody love teal/green, let's see what I can find...

Dress is lovely, and so are the shoes, where are they from please OP?

Weddingblues23 · 08/10/2023 17:31

Dress was from Nobody's Child in the most recent sale (total bargain at £25 down from about £90) Shoes from Nine West, but ages ago, I had to blow dust off them 😄

You could maybe try a tone of blue (greyish blue?) in the earrings (metallic blue?) only because I’ve got an Arket coral orange and blue floral top.

The rose gold clutch @Choux mentioned goes well.

echinaceadreams · 08/10/2023 17:54

Gorgeous dress.

Weddingblues23 · 08/10/2023 22:48

I'm even less skilled the ways of statement earrings than statement necklaces. I like the size of the fizzgoespop ones but don't like the 70s floralness. Would more geometric work?

Thanks, I want them all...

saffy2 · 09/10/2023 09:08

Alexis Vintage on Etsy are what you need 👍🏼

KimWexlersPonyTail · 09/10/2023 09:16

The front of the dress speaks for itself, doesn't need the distraction of a necklace. I would go earrings and/or chunky bangle.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 09/10/2023 12:31

Kate Spade Bloom necklace?
