What's Max Mara sizing in dresses like? Generous/vanity or true/small?

Hi, I´m thinking considering a Max Mara dress, but have no experience of their sizing. Their fit finder recommends a size 44 (equivalent to a UK 12, Spanish 40), but I´m only a size 12 in cloud cuckoo land and Toast. Their live chat cannot provide actual measurements 🙄and I´m not really happy buying 2 different sizes and sending one back because it would initially be quite a lot of money. Also, no stockists near where I live. My actual measurements are 36"/92 cm, 31"/80 cm, 37.5"/94.5 cm. I´d be so grateful if someone could help.

I've found Max Mara runs small apart from in coats.

I'd say it runs true to size. Toast sizing is extremely generous. I always go down a size.

So sounding like true to size/on the small size. I do wish manufacturers would use standard sizes or just give the measurements of their clothes rather than using supposedly standard "sizes" that actually vary so widely between brands 😡. Does anyone else have any input/experience?
