Amika blowout thermal brush, Dyson Airwrap or Shark styler?

I have thick, dense hair that is curly and is midway between bob and shoulder length hair. I blow dry and straighten it twice a week and it just seems so flat at my roots when I do. It doesn’t hold a wave once it’s been blow dried. (I’ve done CG loads of times and am not wanting to go curly again)

I’ve been looking at the Amika blowout brush on CultBeauty, as I had the Remington one but it was too fat to get close to my roots and made them look messy. The Amika brush is slightly different though, it’s heated, rather than being a mini hair dryer with a brush attached.

I then started researching if I would just be better off with the Dyson (although it’s nearly £500!) or the more reasonably priced Shark styler.

So, if you have dense, curly hair, have you tried either of these three and what are your experiences of them, particularly for getting roots smooth but bouncy.

In my experience you need to practice with a good directional hair drier and a round brush.

Looked at the Amika,it has awful reviews on their site. I'd want to be able to return it if necessary.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I have tried for 30 years to blow dry my own hair with a big round brush. I can’t get it anywhere near like a hairdressers blow dry.

I have different hair to you but I do have the Amika brush and although I love it, it doesn’t give volume at the roots. It gives me sleeker/smoother hair than the Babyliss but the Babyliss gave me more volume. I find the Amika easier to use as it doesn’t rotate - Babyliss got my hair tangled - and it feels less damaging.

I really mourn the Brain gas styler, remember that? That was fab for root lift.
